Something like that would be very nice to be able to have a more chill dungeon runs with a friend or two. I definitely wouldn't be upset if they added this option but I also don't see it very likely.
The devs talked about this sometime around the launch of Shadowbringers and said it was too complicated with how the trust AI worked out priorities for healing and things like that.
It doesn't sound like it should be that complicated, but evidently it was severe enough to hold off on what seems like an obvious feature.
Maybe the trust healer just can't keep up with two players struggling on the same mechanic? Or it just generally becomes either harder or easier than their intended range of what trusts allow you to do.
My money would be on making things too easy. Trust AI is designed to not AoE, or typically stop attacking during mechanics. Your singular contributions might not amount to much, but add in a player or two and it might really start dialing down the difficulty.
If that were to happen they’d simply tone down the remaining trust’s output, just like how it is nowadays. Albeit it’ll be more challenging to adjust accordingly.
They deal more when the human player is performing badly, but their output deceptively lowered if the player is performing well.
Probably to ensure trusts will be a slower run in most cases vs DF runs.
I've wanted that since forever! But as stated, it näher became a thing.
So I never leveled my Trusts...
You win some, you lose some :D
This is something they can do with a single player. But how do you expect them to scale back damage if two players run DPS? They just need a tank to hold aggro and a healer to keep the tank alive. Not sure I'd expect the tank AI to be capable of scaling itself back, it only knows to always pick up aggro from everything. Healer AI already struggles keeping the tank alive with more than a couple packs. And, again, the scaling would be massively offset by having two players with much more uptime rather than standing around while a mechanic plays out.
Two DPS + two AI, while probably still limited in pack pulls and vaguely hindered by scaling, would still significantly close the gap between Trust runs and DF.
Making things too easy is a bit weird to me? Dungeons are already the easiest content you can in the game outside quests or fates. They almost never require you to solve any real thought provoking mechanics or meet any decent dps checks. I don't think they would become too easy, they're already a snore fest difficulty wise.
I couldn’t agree more than you. Until you’ve pointed it out in another thread before I never actually tried to look it up.
Trust is fine as it is imho. I like using them to level the classes I’m unfamiliar with and for rerunning NG+. They can use few improvements but not like this.. in particular. :(
