So in my free time I like to ponder on what SE could do to make some jobs a bit better or just remake them entirely (I'm an aspiring gameplay designer). So first on my list is SCH because I love barrier healers and atm SCH is quite underwhelming to play. So here's an idea on how my interpretation of SCH would work.
Aetherflow is now called "Adaptive Tactics" which provide 3 stacks of "Adaptive Tactics"
This fundamentally acts like how Aetherflow is currently. However, depending on what you spend them on, you get a different stack:
If you use Energy Drain you get a stack of "Defensive Capabilities" or "Aetherflow" (I initially wrote Aetherflow but i like Offensive Capablities)
If you use Lustrate, Indomitability, Excogitation or Sacred Soil you get a stack of "Offensive Capabilities"
Defensive Capabilities allows you to use Lustrate, Indomitability, Excogitation or Sacred Soil as if you had a regular stack of Adaptive Tactics
Offensive Capabilities allows you to use Energy Drain as if you had a regular stack of Adaptive Tactics
So if you use damage, you get access to heals and if you heals, you get access to damage rather than having to sacrifice both
For each stack of Adaptive Tactics, Defensive Capabilities and Offensive Capabilities you get 10 gauge as you do when you spend Aetherflow currently
Once you reach 100 Fairy Gauge you can summon Seraph as you do now, Seraphs AoE heal now replaces the Summon Seraph button whilst she is summoned
When you use 3 Defensive Capabilities stacks you gain access to Stratagem: Restore
Whilst under Stratagem: Restore you can use:
-Aetherpact to make your fairy tether as it does now but the tether lasts 10 seconds
-Fey Blessing which is an aoe heal with a mild regen
When you use 3 Offensive Capabilities stacks you gain access to Stratagem: Lance
Whilst under Stratagem: Lance you can use Fey Lance
Fey Lance replaces Ruin 2 whilst you have the Stratagem: Lance up and can be used as just a better Ruin 2
Dissipation (needs to be renamed) no longer removes the fairy but instead rouses the fairy like how Rouse used to
So you get stronger heals as a SCH and your fairy gets bonus healing
Embrace (fairy gcd heal) no longer has a cast time which allows the fairy to heal whilst moving
The lack of a cast time should make the fairy more responsive since they dont have to worry about casting
Also AI adjustments to make the fairy prioritise casting spells over moving. So if the fairy is told to follow the player and then is issued the command for Whispering Dawn, the fairy will cast Whispering Dawn first then move
Obviously potencies and what not can be adjusted to make it balanced but I feel like this would make SCH more fun and rewarding to play. Personally I dont like the idea of having to sacrifice healing for damage and vice versa. I also wanted to implement more, at least namewise, more stratagetic things hence the use of "Stratagem: " and "Capabilities" in the naming of things. All kinds of comments welcome, preferably constructive criticism but I'll take what I can get

i kind of like the concept there, using damage unlocks your heals, using heals unlocks your damage.
i would like the concept where nothing is as it seems being more true to scholar showing his tactical side, i do believe dissipation might have a better call in such strategy but nice going with the direction. -

I played a little of ff11 and thought sch was quite interesting there, altho in 11 from what i played so far they have somewhat of a cleric stance system and some other things, so i thought making sch the strategist healer would be interesting and being able to adjust the use of their tactics and what not -

This isn't a rework. Reworks imply that entire systems are going to change. What you did was rename Aetherflow and encourage it to be exclusively dumped on Energy Drain since you don't lose healing (also somehow increasing the button bloat since you could basically do the same thing by hitting Energy Drain once and getting the healing stacks like how Summoner currently works). You turned Dissipation into Rouse (which is honestly a better thing to do at this point, but it does feel underwhelming as a capstone), and remove cast times on the fairy. These are things that we can have now, but it doesn't fix the underlying core issues that Scholar has. On top of that, the Aetherflow system that Scholar currently has was basically copied for Sage, just, instead of front-loaded, it's passively generated like White Mage.
A rework would completely change how a job is played, like StB Machinist to ShB Machinist or ShB Monk to EW Monk. What you're proposing for Scholar doesn't really change anything about it except maybe how we're using stacks and adding more UI elements. -

Fair enough, I understand your points except for the button bloating as I'm only adding one new button that replaces Ruin 2 which SCH already currently has.
It's not the ultimate fix but I still feel like it would be better for SCH overall.
I dont really get how SCHs current Aetherflow system is like Sage. Since Sage can only use it for healing and mitigation more similar to WHM. Sage generates Addersting only when its single target shield is broken so you cant really have something like that for SCH (not anymore at least since Sage has it)
Maybe naming this as a "Rework" of SCH wasn't the best thing in the world, probably should have named is as an Aetherflow specific rework. -

Yeah not sure how I feel about this. It doesn't really change anything. And honestly, sad to say, not much needs to change. The basic design of SCH isn't bad, it just needs fine tuning. Allegedly, Endwalker is going to fix the faerie responsiveness and potencies, so all that's left is the DPS options and the issue with the capstone skills fighting one another. Other than that SCH isn't designed badly, just meh in execution. It's annoying that the other healers keep getting more DPS options, but SCH just gets the standard upgrades.
Oh and Dissipation, Dissipation needs to die in a fire. That skill has been hated since it's launch and it's still in the SCH's kit. Why? Just why? -
