PSA I have also posted this to reddit and the housing forums to raise awareness.
After about 30 mins of selecting the placard repeatedly I quickly realized how tense I was getting in my arms, shoulders and legs from sheer concentration. This is dangerous for people who are susceptible and for very desperate gamers looking for a housing plot of their own since developer leaders aren't prioritizing this for immediate action. The least they could do is lower the timer to a couple hours. This inaction is reprehensible! They are letting/encouraging their player base into serious health risks for in-game houses!
*I'm focused on housing right now because I've become acutely aware of the problem and what players are currently putting themselves through for a house, and nobody is discussing the risks involved.
I've also read countless forum posts around the internet of people that developed carpel tunnel, sprains, and strains from the repetition of button mashing for 6-23 hours straight due to lack of response or solution from the dev leaders. Is maintaining the games integrity worth a life? Figure it out SE!
**Players in a seated position for too long without moving or taking a drink of water while spending hours to nearly a day long(20-23 hours) straight of button mashing the placard puts them at high risk of developing DVT (Deep vein thrombosis) which is a life threating health crises that happens from developing a blood clot in your legs deep veins or possibly even your arms and is not detectable or noticeable until within minutes to hours after standing up or the clot breaking loose and most people won't know until seconds before their possible and likely death when the clot rushes to their lungs resulting in a pulmonary embolism or heart causing a heart attack.
***DVT rates are high among gamers especially within internet cafes around the world where gamers(many very skinny) spend up to 24 hours in a seated position without moving or hydrating allowing blood clots to develop.
Please Google it and educate yourself about DVT and be aware of the risks.

Housing is broken. I don't care if there are small servers where it's just fine. As with the vast majority of people in civilized parts of the real world living in urbanized areas, most of us in FFXIV play on crowded servers. And on those servers, the system is garbage.

General rule of housing is just don't.
If you can't walk up and buy a plot, then don't subject yourself to placard camping. Ever. Get a dumpy little apartment or a FC house room to hold you over, click a placard occasionally, but don't camp. -

To be honest, I've done housing savage three times now. I'd do it while working from home or drawing, and clicked the placard every so often. More frequently if I was just watching something, but even then it was only once every 5 minutes. I ended up getting my house eventually x3.
The thing about the random timer is that it really is so random that you have just as much of a chance to snag it by clicking once every 10min as the person spam clicking. Save your hands, friends. -

08-09-2021, 06:07 PMViduI'm pretty sure our FC would work just fine without the workshop and the selfmade buffs - both are things that everyone in the FC has full access to, yet I'm usually the only person making use of them. While its nice that I can get the goodies from the voyages for the FC, I dont think anyone would have left because they didnt get a Silver Dasher for free.Quote:

In regards to the buffs: You get one grade 3 buff every 3 days. Hardly game breaking either. (Grade 1 and 2 can be bought with FC seals - something every FC has probably more off than things to spent them on).
Neither the workshop nor the extra buffs are such a big deal that an FC cant function without them. -
