Why can't we send photo evidence when reporting a player for cheating?

It seems strange that when reporting online it is identical to reporting while in game. I think it would be a lot more helpful if they allowed us to attach screenshots if we have them of proof of what was happening.

Because screenshots can quite easily be doctored. The logs that they keep on the other hand cannot.

I'm a touch curious as to what form of cheating you're trying to report.

If it's those piles of bots flying around the place, they've already committed account suicide because that form of cheating is extremely easy for them to detect and act on without any outside input from players. The actual problem is that they only do weekly banwaves which doesn't really do anything to mitigate it because they can easily farm millions of gil within that timespan.

Photo evidence honestly wouldn't really help ID/prove most forms of cheating. What would help is just having a quick report function for more then RMT because you don't need to type out wordy reports to explain that a player is suspect because of their janky movement patterns and/or prolonged activity periods.

While true, it is simply evidence to start an investigation.

If it's fake, it's easy to spot and the false accuser should be the one suspended.

If not, well, a player just basically did a GM's job for them.

A bot in housing screwed up and started posting in the say chat his commands. Got shots of it but i assume they do have the logs and can see it themselfs. (i just deleted this and am trying to replay but it seems i had before. my mistake. im getting use to how this place functions)

It's completely unnecessary for them to be provided with screenshots and then to trounce through their own logs. They investigate irrespective of whether you provide or do not provide the screenshots. They aren't doing anyone a favor because they're still going to be required to check against their own logs anyway. They still need to validate the claims being made in the report. It's probably faster for them to just be provided the time, place, and characters involved.

I'll add that most people don't think of how detailed their logs are.

All they need is the time of your report, and they'll be able to see:

- Every action you performed, down to the time in milliseconds of the action. This will include not only keybinds / button presses / clicks but also character movement. When you jumped. When you emoted.
- Every word you said in any chat channel, whether it's on the screen or not.
- Every player that was in the area at the time, their actions, and their chat logs.

As they have access to this, they don't need screenshots.

It's like you're at NASCAR. You get a really good shot of the car whizzing by, so you head to the pit to offer it up to the crew for "information". The crew already has the car monitored 126 different ways, so any information you might provide with your picture of the car going by isn't going to give them insight they don't already have.

Now multiply this by 35,000 fans offering up photos of cars for "insight" into a race. It would get very old, very fast. Instead, there's just a notice up that says, "WE DON'T NEED PIX. THANKS!"

I'd prefer it that way with the quick report issues thing, but folks keep whining that it'll prevent GMs from actually looking into things.

Personally, I know a lot of folks, myself included, really don't report for most things because its a pain in the ass to do.

I feel like if their logs were actually that detailed, bots would get banned much more often then they do as they'd be able to see abnormalities like a player following the exact same path/sequence of actions over a prolonged period.

I've also reported multiple bots that were going around doing their business while AFK; which is literally impossible to do without a third party program as any manual input will immediately remove your AFK status. Despite pointing this out in my reports, none of the players in question actually got banned.

Yet pictures with mods seem acceptable as evidence when IGN can be doctored as well?
