Free Trial Player Icon

The number of new players are increasing and so many questions being asked in my server's novice network. It is getting annoying trying to help each person but having to change our answer if we find out they are free trial players or not. We also sometimes would like to help these new players by giving them free gear and items like ARR relic crafted items, but we end up not able to do so because we find out they are on free trial. Sometimes We do ask them if they are free trial or not at first, but it is getting repetitive that having an icon that belongs to on free trial players only would make helping new players way faster and better.

while I dont disagree it would be an aid to others in some situations, it could also be used against them. so I dont really see it happening.

Thank you for your input, but I don't see what how can it be used to go against them?

It's a fairly good assumption to make that anyone still in ARR hanging around in cities is a free trial player. I try to make my answers fairly general, but lean to the assumption they have bought the game, so that if they tell me "I can't do that" then it subtly motivates them to buy it.

Thank you for your post. I understand where you are coming from, but you can't tell where the person is from the NN chat, you have to search their name. Why should we make assumptions and give general answers when we can be certain from the icon and give the best answer we can.

not sure you have hung around with people much, not meant as an insult but people, especially those protected by being anonymous online, can also be rather elitist "oh, you dont have money invested? why would I andswer your question freebie... get a job and put out some cash for answers or use google"

I can see that being a thing, especially if there are a lot of free accounts with their new little flags. people WILL discriminate, its human nature. its not right, but it will happen to some extent.

The answer is no. We already have a sprout icon so there is no point in breaking them into 2 groups. You sign up to be a mentor and this is what happens.

Is "new players asking for help" even a thing in this game? I've been a mentor for some years now and might have been approached for advice on something like once. People don't want advice in this game - They just want positive feedback of "Yes dear everything you're doing is just fine, you're amazing."

I've gotten into conversations with new players a lot and ended up fielding their inevitable list of questions.
It seems like they don't come to people for help, but are more than willing to ask questions after a bit of ice breaking.

That's already the attitude in NN with mentors. Just substitute "Oh you don't have money invested?" for "Oh, you're new to the game, let me troll and waste your time."
