I don't know, man. I just think Warmage is pretty cool. Its always been my favorite FF job.
I think it would be neat to play as one. I'd love to see how it would be handled.

Mystic Knight and whatever Branden's job was would also be cool.

Uh, I've played the entire mainstream FF series games and I've never heard of a Job called 'Warmage'. Are you referring to one of the unique NPC Jobs that certain NPCs in FF Tactics had? (Which were actually just replacements for the starting 'Squire' Job but replaced their main abilities with unique ones).
EDIT: okay, after checking FFWiki it seems 'Warmage' has been used as just another name for Dark Knight, and as we already have DRK here in FFXIV, this is pretty much superflorous I'm afraid.
And Branden was literally just a PLD (although apparently in the First PLD was known as simply 'Knight'), with some unique attacks (he even wielded Curtana and the Holy Shield!). So again this is really already available to players anwyay.
I dunno the specifics of this "Warmage" job, but from the name it just sounds like an artillery mage that focuses on battlefield combat.
But Black Mage and Thamaturge already kind of fill this. Their lore is literally to overwhelm and obliterate any and all opposition through the use of black magic. There's several cutscenes and cinematics showing the might of this.
A warmage is someone who specializes is damaging spells rather than restorative and is generally better trained in martial warfare than a typical mage, wearing heavier armor and using more powerful weapons.
But really, the red mage is already pretty much a warmage, the only difference being their lack of armor. But the toolset and greater reliance on melee is very similar.
Well, I could be wrong, but I believe "warmage" is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era
Really? I mean, its a lesser known job but never heard of it?
It often overlaps with Mystic Knight and Fencer being a melee/magic hybrid most of the time.
And I thought Branden's job was called "Magic Swordsman" or something like that?
I didn't know it overlapped with Dark Knight though? Warmage is usually a combination of black mage and warrior. Restricting its magic usage to just darkness magic doesn't seem right.
Nah nah, Warmage is basically a combination of warrior and black mage, not just pure black mage.
Yeah, this guy gets what Warmage is!
But you are right, the current incarnation of Red Mage is similar aside from the armor.
Which makes me doubly curious to see how Warmage would be handled if we were to get it!
Lol, it's just Mystic Knight from FFV from the sounds of it. Only in XII Revenant Wings on enemy Viera. Not a normal staple job for the series at all, really.
I see the wikis say it's in some of the mobile games and tries to pair it up with Dark Knight from FFIII... but what you describe isn't that either.
Pfft. The manqo'te laughed. You are wrong, good sir!
For you see, it IS a lesser known job but a job nonetheless. Unlike say, Reaper which isn't an FF job at all.
Oh, but since you brought up Revenant Wings, the best Final Fantasy game of all time, Sky Pirate would be cool too though!
