Miner's Guild Quest: Water From Stone - NPC Dialog Problem

Steps:
1. Talk to Adalberta to receive the job quest level 25 "Water From Stone."
2.) At the end of the dialog, she says the following sentence:

"Anyway, you'd best get going. You'll need to work fast to make up for all the time I wasted chattering about sweets and grog. Oh, and you'll have the best luck mining around Buscarron's Scar, over in the Black Shroud."

PROBLEM: Buscarron's Scar is in South Shroud, not in the Black Shroud. The Black Shroud doesn't exist.

Not a bug.

The Black Shroud is all of the Shroud zones plus Gridania and the Lavender Beds residential zone.

So, Adalberta is correct with her statement.
Buscarron's Scar is in the Black Shroud, but more specifically in the South Shroud zone of the Black Shroud.

It is like saying Disney World in the Florida, but more specifically in Central Florida.

The Black Shroud is not listed in the teleport menu, and this NPC prompt could be seen by some players as unnecessarily confusing.

The reason it struck me immediately as odd when reading it is because I had just not two minutes before receiving this quest been in Buscarron's Scar leveling on Silver Ore to get to 30; I knew that I had to teleport to South Shroud to get there.

This contrast has further context considering that when a player finds the item in their gathering log, when they click on it to show the map, it takes the player directly to the South Shroud map.

Is it an intentional design choice to motivate new players to search the all of the maps pertaining to the area to find Buscarron's Scar as a part of the quest, or is the purpose of the quest to get them to their destination and have them focused on the quest goals?

I now recognize the position that it's not a technical bug, but it still seems to me to be a design bug.

The Black Shroud is listed in the Teleport and Map menus as the header to the sub zones within it. (see below)
Again, it is correct to refer to the area as The Black Shroud and a very large amount of quests and NPCs do so, even as the specific locations are within the sub zones.

This is due to a limitation of the game for being coded originally to work on consoles with limited map memory, creating "zones" within map regions, thus breaking up the regions in to separate instanced zones (like South Shroud inside Black Shroud)
Other MMOs not limited by memory constants use "seamless zoning" between "areas", so there isn't a break/load screen when walking from one "map" to another.

Yes, it can be said that it does increase the player immersion by having the player explore all of the realm to discover all the named locations and is one reason as you enter a new area you have not been in before, your map of the area is blank and only opens up as you explore the zone.

For the continent that The Black Shroud is in, the name/region break down is:
Continent - Aldenard (its general shape is much like Africa)
Regions - Dravania (NW), Coerthas (North Central), The Black Shroud (Central), Gyr Abania (NE), Mor Dhona (South Central), Thanalan and Paglth'an (South)
Off the western shore of Aldenard is the island continent of Vylbrand, which is La Noscea
There are a few other smaller island countries around Aldenard, and all of those including Aldenard and Vylbrand are collectively called Eorzea.

To the far east is Othard (sorta shaped like Europe/Asia), which is all of the Stormblood eastern areas (Azime Steps, Yanxia, Dalmasca, etc..) along with the far eastern islands of Koshu (Ruby Tide, Kugane, Shishu, etc..) and Thavnair to Othard's SW.

In between Eorzea and Othard is the still shrouded in mystery for us Eorzeans, the continent of Ilsabard, home of the Garlean Empire

Just a note -

Here is the guidance text for the Level 30 MIN Quest:

"Hrodger: Hmmm...I vaguely recall a conversation I had with a miner a while back. We were talking about macuahuimeh─ Oh, did I mention that's what you call more than one macuahuitl? Well, it is. Uh, where was I? Ah, yes─we were chatting about macuahuimeh, and the fellow said that he'd previously dug up wyvern obsidian around Thal's Respite in eastern Thanalan. And that's all I know. Hope it helps!"

He mentions Eastern Thanalan (the map) whereas the region's name is Thanalan.

Here is the guidance text for the Level 35 MIN Quest:

"Wide Gulley: You'll find all the raw amethysts you can carry near about Hopeseed Pond, over in the Central Shroud. The problem has to do with the beasties inhabitin' the place more'n aught else. Lindwurms, stropers, sprites...I hear tell even Jaded Jody's made her home there."

Yet again, he mentions Central Shroud (the map) and not the region Black Shroud.

Should we not at least be consistent between quests in the same line?

I don't think it was a design choice to refer to the region name instead of the map name in the Level 25 Job Quest. I believe that it was an oversight.
