I would first like to start of with saying that most of these ideas are not mine. It is something I merely put together through talking to others, reading suggestions and seeing how other games deal with their versions of “glamour”
I believe the entire glamour system needs to be reworked, below are ideas towards the most effective glamour system in my opinion.
Glamour Prisms:
Glamour Prisms would be removed as an item entirely, and replaced with Glamour Prism (Currency) similar to how the beastman currency got changed into a menu currency instead of a item. Glamour Prism (Currency) would be earned though varies ways such as completing dungeons or something on the challenge log, but no longer crafted. Although I acknowledge that this would hurt the crafters that currently use Glamour Prisms as a source of income to remove these as craftable items, I think the long term benefits of inventory space are more beneficial.
Glamour Dresser:
Glamour Dressers would be completely redesigned to serve two functions, the Glamour Catalog and the Glamour Plates.
-Glamour Catalog
Glamour Catalog would work similarly to the Orchestrion List menu, It would only be text and no pictures due to the high volume of items and easier management. There would be a search menu to directly search an item. Items you own would be in dark text color and items you don't would be in light gray text color. To add an item to the Glamour Catalog you would trade or somehow add the item to the Glamour Dresser, at this point you will be asked if you want to keep the item or remove it from your inventory. At this point the gray text for that items becomes black and you permanently own the look/glamour of that item.
-Glamour Plates:
Glamour Plates would be the second function of the Glamour Dresser. Similarly to how they work now, you would have the option to make lets say as an example, 20 different glamour styles to save. This is the point were it varies, you will be able to glamour over your existing gear with the plates regardless of job requirements. Meaning yes, you can glamour tank gear on your healer for example, you can have the appearance of the item but not actually wear it. However there would still be a catch, weapons. You can glamour in weapons into your Glamour Plates but they will only glamour over the same type of weapon. If the weapon is a different type then your default weapon will remain and everything else will glamour instead. This is very similar to how FFXI treats their version of the glamour system.
Using your Glamour Plates:
In your Character menu very similar to how it works now would be the Glamour Plate menu and you would us it to apply glamour on your character but instead of using Glamour Prism(Items) it would use Glamour Prism (Currency) directly from your Currency menu.
Additionally when creating a new Gear Set in your Character menu you will have the option of saving a Glamour Plate directly attached to that Gear Set. In this way you will be able to save “looks” per Gear Set and not per job type because of the gear being directly glamoured on each piece of gear but as a whole “look” on a Glamour Plate. This would allow the same type of job that share gear to have different glamour.
The Glamour Catalog would also be accessible to look at but not to use from the “Logs” menu similar to the Orchestrion List to keep track of what items you already have.
-To sum up, I understand that the suggestions I'm making for the glamour system rip out large portions or how it already works and replaces it with another large and complex system. However I feel that the benefits of stream lining the system to make it more efficient while at the same time dealing with saving inventory space and dealing with other issues such as same role jobs wearing the same glamour out weights the work involved to make it better long term.-

I only have one immediate complaint about the glamour system at the moment: being unable to glamour different plates onto the same physical gear pieces. While we technically can, and use macros to apply plates each time we swap jobs, it doesn't work except in an sanctuary.
My suggestion is either one of the following:- Allow applying glamour plates everywhere. Then I'll settle for using macros to give my Lv80 RDM and Lv80 BLM different looks, for example.
- Modify the system so that we "wear" glamour plates, i.e. glamour information is no longer written to each equipped gear item, but exists on a "glamour plate" item that we create and equip in a specialized glamour plate slot. The same glamour rules can still apply as they do now, but now by equipping different plates on my RDM and BLM, they will look different even though they're using the exact same pieces of gear.

Yoshi and SE know people want a glamour log as it's been requested repeatedly since pretty much the game was released, the simple fact is they can't, due to how the game is programmed (specifically, how the client reads gear appearence, it's not as simple as you would think). Glamour prisms and the glamour dresser use workarounds simply to make glamour work.
The game was designed as a closed system to ensure it's base functions were stable and worked as well as they could (as it was replacing the barely functional and buggy version 1.0, so SE were desperately trying to restore player confidence), but this meant they had to put 'fluff' features like glamour on the backburner, and thus the game was not designed to accomodate glamour features originally - they've had to work around the programming to get it to function.
So alas a glamour log simply will never be added I'm sorry to say. -

Here I can swap to a caster and wear that cloth armor. So it would have to he like that. If it wasn't then just go back to the crappy system we have now.Quote:
