Is there a way to turn off neighbors' housing effects?

My next-door neighbor has one of the Valentione outdoor furnishings in their yard (I think it's the fire pit or something) that spits out obnoxious hearts that pretty much make it impossible to gpose in my front lawn. I'd like to be able to turn off that effect but from what tinkering I did in display settings/gpose settings I couldn't find a toggle to turn it off.

They don't have a guest book either for me to ask them about it, and every time I chance to look I'm never online at the same time as them to send them a tell. Obviously it's their yard and they're allowed to do what they want with it, I'd just figured I'd ask the once if they wouldn't mind removing it and leave it at that if they said no. Also not entirely relevant but I water their plants every time I water my own because one time I went over there and noticed all their crops had withered and I felt bad...

Anyway, that's about the gist of it. Is there a toggle for it, and if not, what would be your suggestion about the best way to approach them nicely about it?

1. No, there's no supported way to turn it off.

2. Best approach would be to do what it seems like you already plan on doing: If you can get ahold of them, ask nicely. Explain that you're trying to use gpose and if they'd move it a little more out of the way it'd help a lot.

2 part 2: But be aware they might say no. And as always comes up in these kinds of threads - there's no way to force other housing owners to make changes to their setups or do anything. If they're not cooperative, you could, if desperate enough, look for a new plot elsewhere, or hope they remain inactive long enough for auto demolition.

1. That’s what I thought, I just wanted to be sure.

2. That’s the plan. It’s not something to lose sleep over, a minor annoyance at worst, and I don’t want to be a jerk about it. But it is annoying enough to make me want to approach them in the first place. Maybe that’s something I can drop in the suggestions thread, a way to toggle vfx of other players’ housing...

IMO SE should give us an option to turn off neighbor housing effects in the photo mode, or at least give us better control over it. Yeah, I get that everyone should be able to do whatever they want to with it... but at the same time if you're going into photo mode you should be able to tweak the game to remove unwanted effects from the photo, especially if it's a neighbor's. That way everyone wins.

A little late but: apologies if my first post seemed curt. Just this comes up periodically and I prefer to cut right to the point.

I don't think a "housing effects" option akin to "party effects" is a bad idea, though.

I would definitely consider a transfer for sure.

Hell I would offer to buy your house just to be neighbors with such a visionary.
