Beckon of the Elementals doesnt want to work

I'm on the first part of this quest line where you have to kill the guardian of the forest. When I talk to O-pepi and get the ward for whatever element i want I cant seem to apply it to anyone. I click the menu button in the lower right and click on one of the members or myself and it says I cant do that at this time....wtf is going on here. I'm lvl 15 lancer and I cant solo this without that ward.

Here's what you do...Hide behind a tree until the fight is over. :p

I had the same problem and basically did this. >.<

Ok so the quest is basically bugged then. Like this game....

Is this still bugged, it never lets me use the ward, and even if I stand on the far side of the instances eventually it starts attacking me and I die. Is there anyway for me to beat this other than just coming back when I am wicked over leveled?

Hrm... Don't you have to actually use the ward on your opponent? Juuuust making a guess, i've not started my quest in Gridania but in Ul'Dah but in a similar mission I had to use the key item given to me on the enemy, why not give it a try?

When you try to use the Ward on the NPCs like the quests says it gives you the you cant use that now message, and using it on the mob does nothing

I just finished this within the past few days. I brought up the interaction menu after selecting the ward element type and did 'use ward' and then had a cursor select the party member. The party member changes color.

I didn't use the ward... I just kept healing and buffing them as conjuror. They still swapped out every so often but it was as often as when I tried it knowing naught a thing.

So I just skipped this quest and then came back over leveled and muscled through the mob, but as far as I know the ward is still bugged, making it very difficult/impossible to complete this quest at the designated level.

This. I did the same on an alt character about a month ago.
