Crafting Materials Should Have Its Own Inventory Section

In SWTOR, starting around Onslaught (the current expansion) they added a special inventory space for crafting materials, making it easier to keep track of and organize crafting materials. I think FF14 would benefit from this as well. One of the things I don't like about FF14 crafting is the need to manage inventory space.

Never going to happen.

They cause the problem (Overfull invintory)
and then they sell you the solution (additonal retainers)

while i doubt theyll give us a material specific inventory, something thatd go a long way would be deleting a bunch of redundant materials and replacing old recipes with them.

were gonna go into 6.0 with over 11 different types of spring water. Theres also quite a few different tomatoes, milks, beets and other similar mats. Not to mention a bunch of random plants that only see use in one or at most two culinarian recipes and thats it (not even at-the time relevant recipes either)

do we really need that many variations of the same mat for what are going to be irrelevant years-old crafts?

Basically, they should have a separate inventory but the item system was poorly designed at the beginning in a way that they can't easily fix now. That's what they've told us every time inventory comes up and there was an explanation post about it a while back.

It definitely sounds like a good idea though I'm not sure how you'd do it without emptying out a lot of gathering nodes, and unless they can rebuild it, the crafting system doesn't seem to be set up to allow substitutions - which is a pity because it would help a lot to just need one of several options instead of being so specific.

I think the devs have a better approach, when they're actually able to pull it off. "Why have specialized inventory when you can simply make more inventory?"

But being built from the corpse of 1.0, there are difficulties.

An alternative would be at least having the option to have your Retainer's opening and closing lines be automatically skipped so you can quickly get to the items you need.

wow has bags that are only for mats and i wouldnt mind a crafting tab thats has 500 or more slots that all mats and stuff crafted with mats goes into and if possible make it have a couple of tabs. be really helpful for DoH/L people

Inventory is a problem. To have inventory dedicated to a certain type of item, it reduces the amount of inventory we can have for general use.

I'd rather not have inventory dedicated to crafting materials or any other specific items when any left over space goes to waste because I can't store other items there (see the Armory Chest).
