This game needs a huge overhaul.
I have been subbed for 400+ days which is alot to me and i feel like im forcing myself to play since i really have enjoyed the game alot but its become extremely boring to play, so little rewards and so far between.
Equipment is boring, i mean why use a lv80 character? To try to get better equips? For what? Intense trials or dungeons that basically has no reward? Idc about that, i just wanna chill and mindlessly slay enemies while exploring the world. Not look up a strategy online for a boss fight i dont know or should have memorized.
(Dont get me wrong, i do look it up, im a decent player).
I want alot more reward, daily rewards. Rewards from NPCs need to be better. Just give me an incentive to keep subbing. You know that headshot ping when you snipe someone in COD, thats a rewarding feeling. Finishing a daily dungeon to lv a character for 500k exp and having tons of millions to go is not rewarding, while the chest included maybe a minion i already had.
PVP man it needs to be endlessly better.
Look at what Guild Wars does, there's endless amount of shiny obligations and goodies that keep me hyped to playing it and the pvp is so much better.
It feels rewarding just by tagging along, its like the game wants me to be there while FFXIV is alot more work to the grass that is greener on the other side.
Im not talking about the free to play model. It just feels so more rewarding, easier to level up classes, so many things to unlock. It feels like youre kinda with an overview of what you have unlocked while FFXIV buries it somewhere in the boredom that is daily routine.

It's ok to be bored with the game and play something else.
I don't like the game leaping out of it's way to give me all kinds of stuff. If it does let there be some diversity in the rewards. As it is I can cap tomes in a single play session, because everything gives gobs of them. Dungeons are fun of you can help a newbie, I spend a lot of time decorating my home or apts and random crafting. I don't try to find my enjoyment in the structured gameplay like ex trials or savage. That to me is incredibly boring and is not open for creative reasoning. You either do the dps and do the mechs or you fail. There is no creative elements in doing it. It is boring so I avoid that. So I can agree that that needs some overhauling. I give up on pvp. I'll play Mario kart or something for that fix. -

Sauteed, I agree with you though your last sentence leaves me confused and I'm hoping you can clarify.
How does a racing game (which is about trying to take the tightest lines possible again and again on a finite set of tracks) give more creative expression than an EX trial?
They're both about trying to nail an optimal execution on rinse and repeat. -
