This is something that has been on the back of my mind for years and I really want to put it out there. I don't like making two topics on the same day but whatever, here's the idea.
The current housing system isn't instanced like BDO or other MMOs and it causes a lot of overhead for SE. As a result we have a housing crisis and it's problematic.
There are apartments which are probably instanced because the amount available are procedurally created (Whoo!) so we know the system already exists.

The Airship / (Water) Ship system:
Think about using the apartment system for a second and now pair it up with a player owned ship or air ship. Heck, why not a submarine? There are so many possibilities but the idea is that you can have your very own apartment-like setup where it is
1. Instanced based
2. Fully Immersive other than sailing it
Meaning, you could decorate the top of the deck, interior, etc...
With that said, you could even go beyond and have an instanced mini-island if you really wanted to.

In the end, this would lower the demand for houses, reduce the overhead of SE overtime, and provide a new end-game which would be "building your ship".
+ Crafters would benefit
+ Gatherers would benefit
+ Player / FC Friendly
+ Saves SE money
+ Size of your ship (maybe island?) depends on how much gil you want to sink!
+ The system is already there for it (Easy to implement*)

Also would be nice if personal houses could do the airship building/sub building in this manner. Maybe you would have to do something to grow higher level nodes around the backyard or something, idk. The crammed neighborhood system in the housing districts is a little much, also i barely ever see anyone around that isnt in my FC anyway. Again, all cool things that would make housing worth it. As it stands, you can do what? Garden and chocobo stables? Also would be nice to have a dueling area. Maybe this could be better implemented with an instance and fully customizable plot of land in the middle of nowhere I get why they made it so FC had somehat of an advantage when it comes to housing and bringing people together, but they fall short implementing really anything besides daily bonus and airship usage(which if you're not in the top brass, good luck even caring about that arduous task to begin with) I kind of felt housing fell a little short, like needing precrafted roofs and whatnot, though i understand due to limitations of it being that way, but really if much more could be done with instanced housing, i see no reason why it would be a bad idea. Personally, from my experience, I really see 0 benefit in having a house besides... having customizable background music/and a mender/melder within teleports reach. Sure the decoration aspect is great for some, but the fact that you lose it(and rightfully so)if you dont visit it after a period just makes it less worth. esp if your FC already has a house and the plot is super close to the marketboards. Seriously, i use my FC house mostly to do quick repairs and melds and then im off again. IDK if its the same for other people, but im more of a practical sort of player.(I like to have menders/vendors/hairstylists all close to the front entrance)Quote:

I have spent maybe 2 months in total sub time for just decorating houses, not just my own but other houses as well. I haven't charged gil for it even though people offered. As long as they provide the decorations or mats to craft it, I'll do it lol. It may sound like an odd thing to most people playing the game but there are many of us whom are like this because we're bored of other end-game things. :P -

For people that enjoy interior design, it isnt something that isnt worth, but if you're not really big into it having an apartment, or house is harder to justify. Its cool, gives you a little private space you can decorate or...have guests over, whatever you'd be doing, but if it really isnt your thing it ends up becoming more of a liability in my opinion. I like your suggestions though, I hope they will at least consider instanced housingQuote:

I am thinking Heavensward's Redbill Skypirate base as instanced housing. There would be space for gardens and airships. And the design is different, like multiple structures scattered on the the sea of clouds island. Hmm, maybe even skyfishing. I vote that this be the final result of ishgard restoration!
