Will we ever see Chocobo Racing again?

I haven't engaged with it much but do you think they'll ever update the chocobo racing? I know why it's on hold(dev who created it is working in a different area) but would love to see a unique minigame get some love.

I'd love to see chocobo content as a whole get some love, including racing. My only gripe with the mini-game of racing is that it starts out pretty slow- kind of wish it was a bit faster pace / visceral. Since I don't have loads of time I don't play it often, but I did have fun with it once my bird stopped being so slow (and on the plus side they level really fast these days, just again not loads of time lol).

Just all of chocobo getting a polish would be nice XD, my imo at least.

Open world races, even if they had to use some phasing, would be pretty cool. I feel like an Azim Steppe (area) theme'd race would be awesome, a bit like the dungeon they made for the area. Heck they could have races through dungeons lol (beyond chocobo dungeon content and such too).

While I agree on the overhaul... I think chocobo racing in the Azim Steppe would look too much like racing in the Calm Lands and trigger my ptsd. lol

Hahahahahaha... Those birds... The balloons... I did it, but.. it cost something XD. That and dodging all the lightning for the other relic weapon lol. Oof.


So what you're saying though is we should have a bird section to the Azim Steppe race track @_@ haha.

I think what kind of put me off on chocobo racing in this game is it felt like doing those slot car races.

Maybe if it played more like the chocobo racing game they made back on PS1... >.>

I hope so. But only because I finally earned 1million MGP from the Jumbo Cactpot, and now the chocobos are all that's between me and <High Roller>

It just got n update with 5.3.

Because the engine can’t actually handle a real race simulation I just don’t think this will happen. I mean, facts are unless it can mimic an actual racing game like Mario kart, they should just not do it at all. Much like their jumping puzzles, the game just simply isn’t built for it.

That said, I was always of the mind that they should be able to just load specific engines as needed... so why can’t they load a very tight racing simulator just for chocobo racing? Why does it have to be a racing game built into the FFXIV engine?

I want to see more courses. Coerthas, Gyr Abania, Dravania, and and maybe even the far east despite not having as many chocobos would be neat!
