Why is leaving a feast match "reportable"?

You're already taking a heavy point hit, one that's worse than if you sit there and take the loss doing nothing. You get the 30 minute penalty too... queue'ing and then not doing anything is just as reportable for throwing a match so... why is just outright leaving reportable with so many consequences attached to it?

In ranked sessions you're expected to not give up. You're throwing a match for other players when you leave or be inactive.
Under normal PvE circumstances or even unranked PvP matches, there's no lasting downside to the players you are playing with. However with ranked feast it has lasting and real consequences.

If you can't spare 10 mins for the match, don't queue up.

At that point, why not just grey out the option to leave then? If someone has to go cuz of IRL or something, they gotta go... that's reportable? Emergencies and random nonsense does happen. On that note on being the receiving end of this, why doesn't a match just draw for everyone else if someones missing before the match starts?

I don't think GM ban for just 1 match here and there. Because you said RL emergencies can happen and I had to leave myself sometimes and logout directly. Just if it happens every 30min a few times in a row I guess you get a visit in jail.
If somebody is missing before the match starts, the match doesn't even start and it would count as if it never happened. This is more useful than to draw it, because that could ruin your promotion match because you need 3 wins out of 5 matches in order to rank up.

Because this would be heavily exploited if players could just do this, say they don't like thier team they could just leave, dc whatever the case.

There's not much you can do in an emergency situation other than maybe say on discord. As a general rule though if you feel you will have to go abruptly then you should'nt be queueing and if there's a dc or something you should try to rejoin as fast as possible.

Excluding super niche circumstances, obviously

It's a ...bannable word... move to make 3 people sit in queue for god knows how long only to be the one guy to give up.

It's 6 mins, just play.

I mean, they take a heavier hit in points than their team would majority of it. I've had situations where my internet just decided to "lol maint" or I've literally had a pet do something dumb and have take them to the vet. At least prior to diamond I feel as though it shouldn't be a thing. However if it's based on multiple short term instances of leaving, I can see that.

Likely because leaving due to an emergency is fine.
A report on you for doing this isn't likely to end up in any sort of action.

Leaving due to 50 emergencies in one night on the other hand...
Reports don't automatically mean you're in trouble. Continued action showing deliberate intent however will.

That used to happen. It got abused. People would just leave games to force draws if they didn't like the team they got lol.
