Suggestion: Shout Bans and Chat Privileges

Some people should be barred for very large amounts of time or indefinitely from using /shout and /yell (not naming violators here and no one should in this thread). Another smaller suggestion is to have certain channel access like the aforementioned be earned in some community fashion and/or have a cool-down or usable point system. I've heard of novice network banishment (and I avoid that place) though I'm not sure if my first suggestion is actually in practice already. I assume it would be but still, I haven't read the EULA in a while or know of all the actions staff can take. I asked a GM about it; they told me I should make a post, hence I decided to create one.

I think using shout to chat is fine, but seeing the same FC recruitment copypasta every few minutes in a city is pretty annoying. Especially when it's multiple people in different FCs doing it. It gets clogged pretty quick. And some amount of restriction would probably slow down gil sellers, at least to some small extent.

I'd rather see more players just make use of the ignore function if they see something in-game that bothers them. If it's against the rules, then the report function exists - though personally I'd only use it in extreme cases of ongoing harassment rather than one off statements.

Issue with the gil sellers is that they just make new characters then delete them after a short time to try and avoid RMT bans. Once the character is deleted they make a new one and the cycle continues. So while I def agree with the spirit of what you're saying there's really no way to hard counter the gil sellers via a chat restriction without making the restriction annoying for everyone.

You're not being clear about what you're seeing said in /shout and /yell that you think those players should be silenced from using the public chat channels.

If they're saying things that are a violation of the ToS, report them then place them on your blacklist. If they're just being annoying, place them on your blacklist.

Shout and yell are valuable ways for new and veteran players to communicate with each other in the absence of other global zone chats. Let's not make it harder for players to ask questions if they need information. Not every new player has been given an invite to the Novice Network so removing their ability to shout/yell cuts off one of their remaining avenues of communication since /say has a very limited range and there may not be other players within that range that can answer their question.

It's a direct feedback suggestion, pretty much of out-of-game support ticket level. GM told me to come here so I did but it's not my first choice for this specific issue and type of feedback/discussion required (Atleast I got valuable, [or in some other replies, obvious ha] input and insight from the community right? {truthfully, this is all about SE seemingly not doing their job. I'm just trying to remind them the specific person is an issue})

The reason I suggest these people get a specific chat channel ban is because it'd be a quicker, more effective, longer term solution then having to go through ... a certain process that seemingly at this slow rate hasn't been effective considering the amount of times the violator in question has been reported and seemingly runs around as if the process SE went through went to the fail option on their flowchart (erroneously[?]). (I'll show you that certain process below)

But yeah this isn't the real place for this kind of feedback as it's not something outside the realm of staff capability (that should even be up for discussion to be honest [due to moot-ness] unless you all want to go in on how slow SE can respond to important things... lets not... sometimes they have their reasons, like this year for example) but rather, something important possibly slipping through (we all make mistakes). There's a very specific place we can air-out our grievances of that nature but before I go to this spot, it would be important to see if it's even required. In other words Ill be giving them and the game some time to reflect it's 'restitution of peace' before I go here:

Or to even more direct forms of contact, which others have gone to get feedback from SE in more detail. Again, this really wasn't some "one off" situation. Those who saw it and the seemingly continual inaction of staff could also have reported this issue on the link below, a place where many others aren't aware of:

This thread here is kind of moot because it's like we're just talking about what we think SE should do regarding sensitive matters that;
1) we can't discuss in full detail
2) regardless of what we come up with, we would be unable to be sure SE is even considering it because they can't disclose any specifics (unless staff were to come by and say something fairly vague but reassuring hint hint? meh)
3) in this scenario, aren't even beyond what they're supposed to do. The real concern is the rate at which they're implementing whatever system they're using. It has been so slow that people are sure they've done nothing against specific, myriad, frequent, repeat offender(s) doing the same thing over and over. (You don't need the specifics. Just imagine something you'd expect SE to ban someone over, after all is said and done, X or however many violation required surpassed, and then realise they're doing, well, nothing. [what would you do in that situation after seeing that happen?])

I'm the kind of person that gets annoyed quickly. I just want to relax and have fun on 14 and if for example people start talking about the current pandemic and how its a lie in the Crystarium yesterday on Zodiark.. I just turn shout of for a little while

I'm ok with this but then SE needs to remove the 200 list limit. They also need to temp ignore (till you log out) of names that you report for RMT spam so your blacklist doesn't fill up with those.
