What I mean by this is something that the 'General Discussion' page *should* have been: a place for members to discuss any topic of their choosing (baring of course the usual no-go ones).

Because we are a community and as a community we have a wide range of people with a wide range of interests.
*But this is a forum about Final Fantasy XIV, why would you need to discuss any other topic?
Because there's only so many things within the game that can be discussed without going into repetition. Buff this, nerf that, we need this, we don't need that, etc. On top of that this may be the only place some members interact with others in this community so by allowing a variety of discussions it would help build more camaraderie through discovering more shared interests with others. That's what being a community is all about after all.
