[ALTERNATIVE] Housing System

Problem: The current housing/relocation system just isn't functional. It competes over unnecessary RNG, creates player dissatisfaction, punishes players, has caused harassment, and overall just isn't fun. I'm sure we — as a community — and Square Enix have heard the laundry list of issues.


Possible Solution:

Purchasing: We should be able to see a status bar with a countdown for when that status will change (devaluation means nothing, to anyone, it's pointless). If we are going to have people camping for plots then those people should at least be able to leave for the next X amount of hours while the status is "Inactive." Let people play the game and not camp out here for sometimes 20 hours.

• TLDR: Get rid of the "devaluation." Replace with status and countdown to next status.

Relocation: We have all been there. We are at hour 12, we've been spam clicking until we can't feel our wrist anymore, and then someone comes in. . . and relocates. It's hollowing, your whole day has been wasted now, and it's not really anyone's fault except the system's. Re-locations should have to fight a countdown timer. Relocators already have a home, camping players don't. I know people are going to complain about this change but it's just so unfair.

• Option 1: Countdowns are applied to everyone
• Bonus Option 2: Make it so only upgrading can be done immediately (going from a small to a medium, for example).

Buy & Sell System: I don't know why we don't have this when it was promised to us years ago. But putting that aside, there needs to be a trade system. For me, it would look like the following:

• Players can "promote" tenants to house owners.
• You can only own a home if: you have been playing for 6 months, do not own a home on your server (personal, on any character).
• Have your GC ranked correctly.

This means that money is once again moving around on the server. It creates more economy. I get that it may mean that houses are going to sell for obnoxious prices but people should be allowed to do with their gil as they please for the opportunity at getting a limited commode. I mean, people already sell FC houses. Allowing personal homes to have a system in place to be traded is beneficial overall. Players should likewise be allowed to get money back on houses they will no longer be playing with. I mean, my free company alone has spent over 200M on the Medium we have (over time). Housing is expensive for house owners.



Clarifications:
Despite my personal gripes, the updated would look as follows:

- Status Timer instead of Devaluation Timer (still RNG but frees people's time from camping).
"I'm not looking to see the RNG completely abolished, just adjusted. I don't think re-locators should be off the RNG hook. I also thing removing "Devaluation" timer and replacing it with an "RNG"-esque status timer is more efficient. It would look something like: Status: Inactive. 5H until status change. 5H could mean it goes active for purchase 5H could mean it resets inactive. Either way it's 5H players can be playing the game."

- Relotations on RNG as well. Players with homes shouldn't be able to come in and yeet away plots that people have been waiting / camping / fighting RNG for. Especially given those players don't have homes to begin with.

- B&S system. Pretty clear.

In Closing: This system desperately needs a rework. Especially with wards being added in sparse intervals. Housing is a big part of this game and people need to be able to have better access to it. I came to this game almost solely because of housing (stayed for other reasons, of course), and I haven't been able to get the one thing I dreamed of having. I, and so many other people, are in this position. Please consider implementing some of these changes.

Note: This system suggestion is for personal housing not FC housing. I think FCs having priority at the release of wards is fine and gives FC the opportunity to home their people. You would be able to have 1 FC house and 1 Personal house (which is how the system already functions).

I'm sorry for your frustration, but if you haven't been able to get a house in over 5 years, I don't think the problem lies solely with the system. I know Balmung is rougher than most - I transferred from there - but you need to be determined and willing to put in the time. There have been many opportunities over the years when new wards were introduced, etc. The timer is also a relatively recent addition, so if you didn't get one before that, I just don't know what to tell you...

You will never see a plot available at all without that RNG timer.
Your suggestions are pointless because you are pretty much asking them to revert their changes place in because of players complaining they never see any empty plot.
RNG timer is there for this reason so other players have a chance to compete for the empty plot when there is one available.

I won't be here to debate! Sorry ♥ I'm not interested. If you have alternative ideas, feel free to post them! I can update posts with other ideas!

However, to address some points:

- Things are awful on Balmung (and on other Crystal servers). The timer is not particularly new at this point. Before that, however, houses were bought up by bots & users (due to the fact you could own multiple homes). My suggestions are still in line with the changes made to prevent that (1 house per. server).

Additionally, I recognize it's not wholly the system's fault, but there's a difference between "determined" and "insane". The system just isn't functional nor fun inducing. I've gone ahead and removed my personal opinions from the post so that there's less confusion.

i'll tell you what will solve all the pointless ideas mentioned in your message.what ffxiv needs to do is create instanced housing then and only then will people get houses any house they want and in any district they choose.this will aslo eliminate complainers who make the system worse especially if their idea is put in game. i agree with a revamp or overhaul but not using any ideas mentioned.it would go bad to worse as fast as that update come. p.s if you didn't wanna debate with people or can't handle criticism you should not have posted this

The changes I suggested would keep the current house ownership! 1 Personal, 1 FC Lead. Especially with how housing was prior to that system (so many bots @.@). I will add those links to the post!

Wards just needed to be added for new players to also enjoy housing, housing shouldn't be a competition, pvp is a competition. Something casual as decorating a home shouldn't be rendered completely ruled out because the server is overly populated. If this is the case, since I recently just got into the game, they should've fixed it long ago by adding more and more wards instead of wards when they felt like it, because I'm still not sure if firament will ever be housing or something new but even then, overpopulated servers for those who have been waiting for a while will still be out of luck, and it is still unfair.

I'd rather someone have to teleport to my home and never have neighbors if this continues to keep being the case as to why more wards may have not been added due to the complex coding it may take to make housing as it is now. Black desert housing is like that, the outside of the home may not be decorated like on this, but someone can come into your house (many houses) and view your set up.
