Game Download Exceptionally Slow

Recently my FF14 was refusing to close when I attempted to exit, it was also occasionally throwing DX11 errors upon launch and crashing. With the 5.2 patch upcoming I figured a reinstall of the game was in order to resolve these issues.

Downloading the game, however, has turned into an ordeal of its own. The download speed appears to be capped below 2Mb/s. At its current speed the download will take some 12 hours. I attempted to leave it going while I was at work but it lost connection halfway through the download while I was gone and lost all progress.

I'd rather not have to leave this download going for half a day only to see a connection hiccup break it again so I've come here with an info dump to see if you can try something I've not tried.

System has been rebooted, the problem isn't an issue of disk usage (the drive in question is an SSD). I have rebooted the modem, speed tests to multiple sources including MLABS say I should have a bandwith of about 50 times the game's current download speed.

Device is not nor has it ever been connected wirelessly, I do not even have wireless capability installed in this computer - it is connected directly to the modem via a single CAT 6E patch cable.

I've added port forwarding exceptions to the router, I've attempted to remove the router entirely and connect directly to the modem as well as add the port exceptions to the modem. The programme has an exception in the windows firewall.

If anyone has other suggestions I'm open to them.

Download speed aside, have you double-checked that the progress has in fact been reset? Whenever you start downloading the percentage isn't based on the total, but how much is remaining from when you opened the client.

Yes, progress was reset; also download speed is still exceptionally slow.

You're lucky your download speed is even slow. Can't download anything here it just stops at about 1.2 gigs.

We apologize for the delay in our response, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

- The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
- Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
- Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

-Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

- Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:

-Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.
