Suggestion: Death Mechanic Addition

The theme of FF14 is comraderie, it's even in the logo! So why not add a fun mechanic to the current death system?

When a player reaches 0 HP, they go into a "down" status. If someone doesn't reach them within 30 seconds, the normal death timer like now begins.

If you do reach them within 30 seconds (and assuming you can't for whatever reason just cast Raise) you would scoop them up in your arms (or help them up shoulder to shoulder) complete with fancy heart warming animations and all.

"Raising" people this way would take say, a max of 2 mins, and you can still fight while carrying them (but they cannot) but your stats would be halved.

Yay? Nay? 2.0?!

lol when i read this i had a quiet chuckle to myself :p (In a good way ofcourse haha)

Some peeps that read this are prolly gonna be like "neh we dont need it, theres more important stuff" or something like lol and thats probably the case. Having said that i think its a fun idea.

I had the picture in my head as i was reading it of that elf/elelzeenwhatever lady helping that roagadewhaever (ff names eh?) in the movie/trailer thingy for ffxiv. If it was like that it would be awesome :D

It could be quite commical when it comes to lalafell haha. :D I can picture myself (Highlander) picking up my lil lala buddy, throwing him over my shoulder and halling ass outta there :D oh man that would be fun and full of lols. RUNNNNNNN FOR YOUR LIFE!, theres like explosions and crap behind you as you run! haha :D

OR haha, imagine a lalafell helping a rogad...roegadyn? lol! how would that work!? :D lols maybe the lala can grab them by the back of the collar and drag them outta there on their asses :D ahaha that would be a sight to see.



Maybe, it terms of the mechanic it could have some sort of cooldown maybe 15mins? Also when you're in the downed state, if you get hit one more time you're gone burgers lol. Oh and when someone is helping you, you they become like you're sheild, taking the hits for you. (unless maybe its an AoE attack?)

hehe, also maybe when theyre helping you up theres a timer of say 1min before you are able to steady yourself and get back on your own feet?

Oh, Oh, and last thing haha to balance it out a little, maybe the person helping you up is restricted to support skills and auto attacks only?


Anywho funny idea :D although i highly doubt it'll happen, :p BUT if it did it would be something ffxiv has that no other mmo has so it will be unique, oh and did i mention it was a fun idea? lols

Well, I know the upcoming Guild Wars 2 has a similar feature. But in there the person in the downed state can still attack. I just thought that since FF14 places such a huge emphasis on team work and camaraderie than any other MMO (save for FF11), that it would be a touching sight to see an animation where you actually walk around with an injured party mate till they recover.

And I've only played Gears of War 1 way back in the day :X
