Request: Color Picker option

If this is possible I would like a color picker option when dyeing gear so that we can match the colors that we do not have access to. Basically, aim your cursor over the part of the piece of gear you want to color match, choose your color and I guess, have it consume a sort of custom dye paint.

I am aware there are technical limitations barring us from such a feature at the moment but if the development team can figure out a way, I am sure everyone will welcome such a feature.

Ehh? Sounds complicated when you can just buy the dye from a vendor, mogstation or marketboard.

The feature is to be used when you cannot match a specific color on your gear. For example in the image below I was not able to match the shade of green on my hood with the dyes we have available. If I could color-pick that shade of green on the mantle that would solve the problem.

Yeah. We have a lot of dye colors, but not ALL the colors. Many pieces of gear having no exact matching dye.

(Freaking Proto Ultima Mesh not letting you match the black OR the gold...)

I thought Bone White matches the gold parts?

Also Raptor Blue for matching the contrast stripes.

On the overall issue of dye matching, I think they got asked about it at one point and said it's difficult to add more colours. It's definitely frustrating though.

Does it? Huh, I'll have to recheck that. Could fix a few of my glamours.

Ahhh that's how you meant it! Yeah it would be nice if they added that or just try and make gear take the same color. Altho i doubt they would do that seeing as character creation is already simple. Maybe if they skip new races for the next few expansions we get better customization along with a better dye system.

It'd be nice but it's unlikely. The way the dye system works now there are a finite number of dyes uniquely identified. What you're suggesting here would be the equivalent of adding hundreds or thousands more dyes and shades of dyes that would all have to be uniquely identified. Unfortunately the system doesn't just use RGB values, it uses item IDs.

Gah... so close, but not quite.

Bone White (and Gobbiebag Brown) are probably close enough for boots, but not for gloves.
