Seeing many story around housing i guess im kinda lucky, get a small house without even trying. One click and its done. Or maybe because its small so there's not many competition there.
One thing that i really hate about video game is grinding and time gating, and placard camping is one of that.
So, yoshi-p i know you not read this lmao. But, why not make the placard as an NPC who sell housing tickets, and after the tickets sold at a certain threshold/certain time frame they will draw the winning number. No need to camping, no need angry customers, people still can do content while waiting for their chance to win.

Do you see how some people react to not get again their fashion coffer at the end of the Nier raid, which is spammable like every hour and where you roll against 23 other players only ? Now imagine competing against hundreds of other players (that's what you will get if all it takes to try to get a house is a few seconds to buy a ticket) with a few days delay between each try (because free housing plots aren't common since they are limited in number). You are kinda deluded if you think there will not be angry customers anymore : the rants on the forum will just switch from "placard clicking is awful" to "i did try my luck 6 months straight without getting anything : please get rid of the lottery system !" XD
While it would indeed solve the problem of clicking hours long on a placard being unhealthy and not fun, it would also just be another band-aid on a broken leg. Because it would not solve the core of the housing problem : that there is not enough plots for everyone. -

in its core ffxiv housing isnt designed so everyone can have a house, its like a real world where only a fraction will have it. the housing "problem" you mentioned wouldnt really treated as problem by the dev if its working as they wanted to...
they can get rid off rolling number for glamour coffer, but do they do it? is there a chance they will get rid of it? its the same situation with housing. they wont change the design radically from the ground up, just be real, no way it(instanced housing) would happen... -

Replacing RNG with RNG doesn't solve anything. It might give people more free time, but it also opens a plot up to more competition which means even lower chances for any person to get a house at all.
