Hunt scholars should mention whether a S rank is available to spawn/on respawn.

Ever since cross-world became available, there has been a problem with people actively attempting to spawn/solo S rank hunt marks for the sake of depriving others (They've made it rather clear with mocking remarks/emotes towards the organized hunters they're seeking to inconvenience).

This wouldn't be too bad if not for the fact if nobody knows when the hunt died except for the person who killed it, anyone else who attempts to spawn it in the future is effectively shooting blind.

This leads to the hunts going missing for weeks on end due to being repeatedly killed by either the person who killed it previously bagging it again or some random player bopping it because nobody had any idea when it would be available to spawn.

Having the ability to check when a hunt is actually available at its respective hunt scholar would make things more fair for everyone and also prevent people from wasting their time attempting tedious spawn conditions when the hunt can't even appear yet.

They could simply remark after the usual hunt hint that the signs of the S rank were located recently (Spawn window is open) or that it hasn't been seen in a while (Spawn window is not open).

hunts aren't really supposed to be "fair". they're supposed to be free-for-alls. people want to bring organization to chaos and then get upset when someone starts messing with it.

I don't have an issue with the "free-for-all" part.

I do have an issue with the fact that due to the predictable minimum respawn times on S ranks, someone who is willfully soloing them and tracking kill times has a leg-up over everyone for the next spawn as well, which can allow them to effectively monopolize multiple hunts unless there's people constantly monitoring either them or the zones with unknown kill times. Ragnarok Online also had this problem with its rare enemies/bosses (Which, unlike S rank hunts, dropped tons of different valuable items) and enough people complained about it that they opted to eventually just publicize the respawn times on everything to give everyone an even chance at bagging them instead of allowing individuals to hog them.

As I also mentioned, certain S ranks like Senmurv that have extremely tedious spawn conditions that can still reasonably be met by accident (Usually due to the presence of FATE bots in that specific case) are not something you want to try to spawn unless you can be assured it's going to actually show up.

This change would make the hunt system more enjoyable for everyone overall (Well, except for the deviants who get off on monopolizing them, of course).

i dont really see anything wrong with it saying in some sort of cryptic message if its ready or not
anyone who wants to spawn a S rank will most likely look it up on Ariyala or something anyway

Ariyala has practically been unusable for the past several months thanks to people deliberately mismarking the kill times on virtually every server's page on a daily basis (Which not so coincidentally started up around the time cross-world was introduced) but lamentably remains the most popular way to attempt to track hunts.

There's a more modern option in Horus that requires you to register your character to start logging times and thus discourages people from trolling as you can be blacklisted by others if your times are consistently inaccurate. I find its interface a bit too spread out for my tastes, though.

Well, cross world visiting and now the multiple instances on some maps made hunting less enjoyable for me. The surplus of hunts because of that makes them more and more uninteresting. I'm to the point now where I don't hunt anymore at all.
At least I have a count of 5 ShB A ranks and 2 ShB S ranks.

Why not just give every S rank a certain day of the week and time so everyone knows beforehand when it spawns and no one can complain about "early pulling". Also no one would waist their time to try to spawn something. :rolleyes:

this wouldn't be an issue if mounts weren't tied to hunts. but trying to bring organization to a system that is supposed to be in chaos is... unfulfilling.

I legitimately enjoy spawning S ranks...except for when I don't know whether or not the spawn window for the thing is even open because of some random person picking it off then not recording a kill time anywhere.

They already took some of the ambiguity out of hunting with the public spawn notifications. No reason for them to not go another step further and make their spawn windows publicly available knowledge as well.

It's not a requirement to post a kill time anywhere. I've quite frequently snagged a few solo skills just accidentally flying past an s while looking for my weekly mark and though sod it smack it while I'm here.... not then obliged to go and post somewhere just as I'm not obliged to shout out and spend the next 10 minutes waiting for other people who might be interested in joining...

If theres a problem with hunts I'd say it's in the predictable respawn windows more than anything. Make them more randomised. An S might spawn 30 minutes after it's been killed or 3 days. Problem solved...

The other issue is them being basically fates where any number of people can participate. It makes them a lot less interesting when it's just zerg it down quick and hope you get enough credit... limited participants might actually allow them to have mechanics and stuff...

ARR hunts are as weak as stray mobs these days. If I see one, I never call it out, because hey- I got things to do and I don't want to sit on my thumbs and wait for 20 people without increased mount speed to load in and crawl over.

If they were given requirements like Odin, I would welcome the change as well. Less zerging, more opportunities for people to experience them and their mechanics. I like how even ShB A ranks feel like proper world bosses, but that will only last until gear makes them push overs.
