Free Home Word Transfer Congested to Preferred

SE has an effort going right now to offer free Home World Transfers from Congested worlds to Preferred worlds.

But for a few weeks now, there have been NO Preferred or New worlds available in North America.

At one point we had 8/8 worlds in one Data Center all designated Congested.

Right now, we have 8/24 worlds in North America designated Congested. 6/8 of those are in Primal Data Center. The other 16/24 are all designated Standard.

So where are we expected to transfer to if we are on a congested world in North America?

Has SE given any indication of creating new worlds in North America?

They haven't, and making a decision a month after an expansion would be a poor time to judge how many servers are needed. If things are still filled to the brim a couple of months from now... then yeah we probably need more.

Yeap, my feeling too. They are not deliberating if, but how many.

I have the same question. I'm willing to move my alts to help relieve the congestion but there aren't any "free" ones to move to in NA so... what's the point of having the incentive with no place to go?

It amazes me how many people don't understand that creating new worlds to accommodate post-release crowds is a bad idea. You don't buy a bigger house because your extended family is coming to visit for a week - you just tough it out until they leave and things settle back down. New worlds are a long term commitment for a temporary issue. WoW did this back in its peak and later had to merge servers and come up with other solutions to the dozens upon dozens of dead servers that now haunt that game.

I'm really glad that SE has not made the mistake of creating new worlds as a knee-jerk reaction to what is, overall, a minor problem.

Having alts isn't the problem and moving them won't help anything, it's all based on concurrent logins.

Can't check right now with the servers down for maintenance but the JP data centers had a few preferred worlds and the 2 recently added EU worlds were still marked as new the last time I checked. We can transfer to any world since there are no regional restrictions so there are worlds to transfer to if you want the incentives. The worlds just aren't in the NA data centers.
