Could melee please be allowed to share gear.

So far melee is the only role that have 3 different armors, something Tanks, Ranged, Caster and Healer does not have an issue with.

Just slap dex and str on it and call it a day.

Not like the primary stats effects overlap, and even then all the melee jobs are highly dexterous.

Not that we would loose out on glamour either seeing how you can glamour across job restrictions. And usually each sets of outfits we get have like 3-4 unique looking armors with minor differences between the roles. Often Nin shares look with MNK, sometimes it shares with Support, same for DRG with tanks and MNK. Sometimes Tank and Healer shares and so on..

The reason they haven't done this yet is due to the aesthetic differences between all four melee. While some sets do look similar, they also differentiate fairly often. This also makes melee have to role against four other players. Perhaps in 6.0 this can be revisited since we'll likely have another DPS added.

As stated the aesthetic differences is all over the place. Sometimes DRG shares looks with tank, sometimes it MNK, Ranged, Caster, Healer... And this goes for all the roles, sometimes they all share the exact same look.

At worst case every dps role would have to roll against 4 other players, doesn't matter if you are melee, ranged or caster as long as there are 5 dps slots in a raid there is always the risk that all those players covers the same role.

I just think we need another Maiming dps and Ninja to just be deleted and we are golden.

I don't wanna look at a Tank when I'm a NIN. D:

should only be 2 versions.
armored, and non armored.

MNK/NIN (using STR, not DEX for the NIN gear)
SAM/DRG.

this is how all sets should be made in the future. (not past content)
all prior sets can either remain as is, or some can be remade to allow both. (such as SAM being allowed in some of the DRG sets, MNK into some of the NIN sets, etc. but also possible for SAM to be in some of the future MNK and NIN sets)

changing primary stats wont mean anything, since we've seen them do it before with tanks, and their gear, so it's not some unreasonable change.

Dragoon has only ever shared an aesthetic with tanks. The only exception where gear is entirely all over the place is leveling dungeons since they reuse old stuff. If you look up raid, tome and alliance gear, Dragoon typically has a unique model or a variant of tanks. And that is precisely why they don't want to make melee DPS all one aesthetic.

But that risk increases with your scenario. Currently, I only have to worry about another Dragoon. If all the melee shared Slaying, it's far more likely I'll have someone else rolling against me.

It'd help if the next dps is maiming (big hammer DPS?) and they move ninja to striking instead of it being it's own thing

Ironworks: DRG shares with MNK, NIN shares with Ranged
Hellfire: Tank shares with MNK, DRG is unique

Alexandrian: DRG got Tank shoulders but MNK body. Nin shares with caster, ranged with healer.

Do tell me how this isn't all over the place again?
