Favorite healer change previewed for 5.0?

Not trying to take away from the concerns and criticisms. The threads discussing such issues are feedback for SE and catharsis for players, and will still gets lots of traffic all the way up to 5.0 and after.

Just wondering if there is any change that healers are excited for? Anything you are personally looking forward to? :confused:

Only thing I'm really looking forward to is the story and seeing what they thought up for Eden. That's it...

I am personally excited for Urianger to be an AST. That's about it...

Ok ok, I'm just kidding... mostly. I do like the animations for AST and think the names for their new abilities are great, they definitely fit the theme. That's about it.

It actually took me a little bit to think of this one really.

Afflatus Misery has a ton of potential in dungeons and could be quite tasty if we get a chunky add phase in one of the new raids or trials.

The rest of the WHM kit feels fairly subtle by comparison really. SCH will be quite the healing powerhouse and there's every chance I may even end up having to play it next tier. Not my preferred healer but the new kit will suit my play style. I'm still a bit apprehensive about AST.

I mean, its questionable on single target, but Misery lily will be hella fun on packs of mobs in dungeons.

I'm looking forward to seeing healers possibly heal more instead of being so obsessed with their Deeps. I'm pretty good at not dying in MMOs, but for some reason lately almost every healer I've seen hasn't bothered to heal anyone and I've had to jump all over them for them to see I have no health left and need more than a Regen or Succor. Maybe with less overall damage dealing skills I'll get healed more.

I'm in this party. Afflatus Misery looks really awesome animation wise and I think will feel very satisfying. Honestly, Whm has always been the healer I was least interested in, and didn't even level it till 4.1. Now I wanna switch over to using is as my main healer, though I'm probably going to spend most of my time as Dancer.

I guess it is pretty silly, but I like the look of the new fairy, Seraph. I'm a sucker for smallfolk and fairy folk in fantasy, dwarf, hobbits, fairies and the like, and I love the look of the new fairy. I wish we had a better reason to use Selene, but still is pretty cool we have Seraph. Also like instant shields, really wanted more shielding options that could be used reactively and fast. I hope SE takes advantage of those for fight designs with more random attacks. Like the more "light magic" oriented spells of WHM, but I'm a bit conflicted about losing the "nature" flavor of the job.

I think it may have the opposite effect. Now than healing is more accessible, more healers will feel more comfortable. Also actually is just SCH which lost the majority of DPS skills, WHM lost one but gained one (granted, the new one require them healing to use). AST DPS is the same as ever. Even the NPC of the Trust System goes full DPS mode throwing heals when necessary.

You do realize you can cast Holy 30 times in the time it takes to get the 3 lilies needed to nourish the blood lily to cast Afflatus Misery once. If I remember the tooltip right, Holy is now 180 potency with no drop off? That's 5400 potency compared to 900. Of course, you're unlikely to have the MP to cast holy 30 times, but it only takes 5 to equal the 900 potency of Misery plus Holy will stun which means your tank won't take as much damage while you're spamming it. I don't really see the potential in dungeons. And because of the time and GDC limitations, I really doubt it's going to make a whole lot of difference in the raid situation you mentioned.
