Live Letter: Crafter’s Job Specific Gear - Is it Scrip or BiS?

Most of you just saw the live letter. And I was wondering, is the new gear they showed BiS white gear? Or scrip gear? They didn’t explain.

It's always the scrip gear.

Job specific gear is generally bought with the higher tier scrips. I would assume it isn't best in slot and that high quality crafted gear, by nature of being able to over meld it, will.

Scrip gear could be BiS they're not mutually exclusive.

That alchemist outfit tho :Q

Penta melded HQ crafting gear will probably beat the scrip gear.

If crafted gear cannot be penta melded, and scrip gear has meld slots then i could see scrip gear being BiS.

But like you said, we will see what happens.

Where did you hear that from? If that’s true, that means they are going to be giving players more of a reason to farm scrip gear, which is great.

They aren't getting rid of overmelding and have never said they were. What they said is that they were getting rid of main stat materia for DOW/M. The live letter itself states that completing the Ishgardian restoration will probably require fully overmelded gear, so it's still there.
