Freakin lalafells.
Bonjour is Apple software, and Internet Explorer doesn't use it. Windows doesn't even use it. only other Apple software uses it. other Apple software, and other niche software that uses some of the Bonjour services. like AirPower alternatives and such.
either way... i sure as hell didn't agree to having bundle-ware installed.
People are still using Internet Explorer?
yeah, but it only does that when Apple or Apple-related software needs it to be there. Windows itself doesn't need Bonjour for zeroconf. is the FFXIV Launcher somehow actually Apple software in disguise? i am sorry, but this still isn't making sense. and, why now? why suddenly we need this installed? why does everything work just fine when blocking the install? it is clearly not needed. something fishy is happening. there is zero reason as of to why Square Enix needs users to have Bonjour installed.
i personally won't EVER agree to install any software from Apple. they can't be trusted. i remember back when they bundled adware and crap with Bonjour. hell... their user agreements used to be iron clad, that they pretty much owned your life for accepting.
hell, we don't even get a notice from SE... 'hey, we are bundling third-party software with ours'. nothing. again, i didn't agree to bundle-ware. i can't find anywhere that says i agreed to bundle-ware, or third-party software not from Square Enix.
sadly yes. as mentioned above, the FFXIV Launcher uses Internet Explorer. and plenty of those silly Flash games that certain places operate too. like they have that mini-client you can download and use. they all use Internet Explorer. which is really really bad. just gives them an out to never ever switch up to Unity when Flash is removed from all common browsers.
Internet Explorer will likely always maintain support for Flash, just as it does for Java. and since it is core to Windows, Microsoft will never remove. forever enabling those certain hosts to fallback on it and never updating to Unity. Flash is too slow and buggy, but they don't care. LOL
Which version of windows are you running? I've never had this happen when I've installed the game. At least that I've noticed.
