1-50 Crafts could use some smoothing.

So I've been wanting to level a 2nd character because I know several friends on another datacenter, and the main thing stopping me, or at least giving me pause, is how bad leveling crafting is.

But yet, to repair gear, you have to do it unless you want to pay out the nose to repair your gear at the mender. And not just one craft, but most of them because different gear needs different crafts.

The Ixals are just plain annoying, I think the first thing that could be done there, is to rework them to make them function similarly to the other 2 tribes currently in the game, get rid of the glove requirements, and the debuffs while crafting, etc all make it rather annoying to actually do the Ixal quests, and perhaps get rid of some of the travelling (make all the quests happen in North Shroud) as well.

Perhaps boost the amount of XP you get from making items would be nice too, and/or rework some of the recipes to be a little less annoying.

It is faster than ever to level a DoW or DoM class from 1 to 50 but yet it is still slow and annoying to level all of those crafts to get up to 50. Let's change that.

It's been so long since I've been through the low levels. How bad is the leve situation? I know by the time I got to HW (shortly after 4.0 dropped), leve exp almost seemed excessive. As a completionist that really wanted those green ticks, completing all of those would've practically negated the need for moogles.

But it can also be understandably unpleasant to need to find all the materials needed for all that crafting, when the beast tribes can just hand out what you need.

Not to mention the Levequests have you running all over the fricken place.

Or, if they don't, then they give a lot less XP. Pick up Levequest at major city, go waaaaaaay out to the middle of nowhere to turn it in, come back to the major city.....

That's why I don't do Levequests. You spend way too much time and money running back and forth.

If you dislike it that much, boost one of your crafters to the state of being able to get scrips (60) then get the Commercial Manuals and just quick synth your way through the other crafter classes.

Granted this only solves the issue for you, but barring the poor means of acquiring shards; levelling from 1-50 is not that bad. Pleasant even, quests aside.

Then your issue is that you're not doing them efficiently. Make the town in question your free teleport or a discounted one and simply use the leve to generate enough gil to pay for the teleporting too and from. Besides, the trade off to having leve kits/quests is that you are trading the time that you would normally spend grinding or waiting for beast tribes dailies, etc and exchanging it with the significantly faster act of teleporting, walking to an NPC, turning it in, and going back.
