So with the reveal of the new healer abilities we see that all 3 healers have some toes dipped into having boths hots and shields.
My concern is with shields and Astrologian teaming up with Scholar.
So I prefer to be Nocturnal Astro but have no problem switching to Diurnal for my Scholar allies. My concern is that now in Diurnal we have access to shields in 2 ways: Celestial Intersection and Neutral Sect.
Now I am wondering will these stack? Cuz according to the tooltip for Celestial Intersection it will not and that ability gives the opposite effect of what you are in. So unless you can swap from Nocturnal to Diurnal to use a single ability for that extra regen, is there a point to using it? Unless we are using it on someone other than the tank? In which case is it worth it?
As for Neutral sect, isn't it a bit obsolete if we are with a Scholar since our Aspected Helios's shield won't stack with Scholar's Succor as well as our Aspected Benefic with their Adloquim? That is unless, once again, we use it on someone other than the tank, which begs the question will there be a need to?

The way I read this was as a buff to the WHM and AST synergy rather than something intended to be useful in every situation. This way WHM and AST co healers still get shields with the benefit of stacking their regens with neutral sect.
I don't think it's a particularly elegant solution to the issue of SCH being the well defined shield healer and bringing noct AST up to match but I haven't been particularly impressed with SE's solutions to the general healer balancing issue since HW. -

Intersection doesn't grant the basic Nocturnal shield; it grants an orange version of the shield (Nocturnal Intersection). The tooltip says the effect "does not stack"; when an ability says this, it typically refers to not stacking with itself. That is, two Diurnal ASTs couldn't both use Intersection. It's just another time to stress that two ASTs should be in opposite sects. Since it does not specifically mention incompatibility with SCH/Galvanize, at this point we should assume an Intersection shield stacks with Galvanize.
Diurnal Sect => Neutral Sect => Aspected Helios applies Nocturnal Balance; this is another specialized shield buff made for Neutral Sect.
So in all, you can have Nocturnal Field (NoctAST base shield), Nocturnal Intersection (DiAST Intersection shield) and Nocturnal Balance (DiAST Neutral Sect shield).
Just a minor correction here, Succor and Adloquium apply the same shield, Galvanize. This is the shield that's incompatible with Nocturnal Field.Quote:
