Unable to login on PS4

Im having a lot of difficulty logging in on ps4. It goes from connecting to playstation network then the screen goes completely white...then the connection times out and a connection timed out error. I also at times get the message: “the update patch is currently downloading....”

I have reset my router, restarted my ps4 countless times. I can connect to psn and play other online content with no problem. Tried other devices and the internet streams good. I just cannot get to the login screen at all :(

How long have you been having this issue? Also is the PS4 connected to the internet through wifi? If so, could you connect it directly to the router?
