Do the names get freed up when SE bans RMT bots?

So I've noticed that the rmt bots have started as lalafell this round, which wouldn't cause me to worry about them any more than I would if they were the usual hyur bots, but these guys seem to be using the in-game random name generator, and that's causing them to take up the very limited number of lore-appropriate names available for lalafell.

Generally no, the names are not freed up since they don't delete the characters.

What King Canadane said. My ex asked for a refund of his play time since it auto charged (he asked the very first day, explaining that he forgot to cancel and they could take all his play time and he hasn't been on in awhile) and they refused. So, he straight up called his bank and forced a refund through there, which caused SE to ban his account.

His account is 100% dead; he can never get it back and he can't use it. However, his character is still technically in the game and not deleted. I don't use my old character anymore but when I logged in once I saw my guild was basically dead and all members hadn't been on in a long time. The interesting thing I noticed was that his character was still in the guild. Just hadn't logged on since ARR.

I think this is more of "absolutely no". SE's said they don't delete because it might be someone's account was merely hacked, so if the original owner ever looks to recover it...

Does it matter?
Most RMT bots have names like NGKATE YMAMG.

If you read the Op's post you would have seen them mentioned that the bots are now using the auto name generator and taking lore based names. Which now no one else can use.

The random name generator is fairly limited - I was slamming down on it the other night and kept getting the same couple dozen names over and over. When the names are taken RMT tend to just throw a couple extra letters at the end so I'm not too worried about them exhausting the enormous pool of lore-appropriate lala names, only the few that SE has programmed as examples (which are often taken by players already anyway).

That was cold...I guess when you are looking at numbers everyday and not people, you forget the customers are people too. The digital age has left us in some very difficult times in our present social culture. The ability to value life, love and dignity has turned as empty and meaningless as the programmed faces of our toons. If he where a friend or family member the customer support would have put some effort into accommodating him...it's twice as bad when you are just given over to a stale AI browser that takes away human element all together.

Unfortunately while that works for most races, lalafells have a super strict naming convention that requires a specific number and pattern of romanized kana. Nanamo Namo is a legal lalafell name, Nanamo namoo is not. And with how easy it is to program a random name generator for lalafells, I'm not sure the entire list isn't already programmed in.
