Leve Allowances 5.0

May we please have more leve allowances come 5.0? The level cap will be increased across the board, and 100 allowances works fine for 1-50, not so much 70, and certainly not 80. I propose 200, 300 for absolute (admittedly unrealistic) generosity.

I understand this is a sub based mmo, and there are some aspects that are intentionally prolonged to keep us around. However, I think there comes a point of absolute tedium following the restrictions that wears on the player instead of motivating them.

What really eats away are the L quests, which- again, seem fine at the time for a lower level cap, but are exasperating for 70 and soon beyond.

I don't see why we need a higher allowance since they only build up at a rate of 6 per day. I would rather have an increase to the daily allowance than to increase the pool when I'm not making use of them.

The only time I used up all my leve allowances was while farming an item for the Anima weapon. And the biggest problem when I ran out wasn't the cap but the amount I acquired per day, like Dustytome said. If they accumulated faster then the cap wouldn't matter much.

Or give more means to quickly level crafting/gathering from 1 - 50

I think it would be better to just increase the refresh rate of the leves per day—maybe go from 6 to something like 10. Maybe even higher. It really depends, because outside of leveling crafters and pursuing older relics, Leves don’t serve much of a purpose these days.

Leves are only useful for crafters: they’re so useless on battle jobs past the baby levels that SB didn’t even include Battle Leves; and I think the Gathering Leves are also meh compared to just doing daily GC turn-ins and collectibles once you hit level 50. The only time I’ve touched leves this expansion outside of leveling my crafters during the first month of 4.0’s release was for doing old Relics (been working on Nirvana for WHM, and I’m on that super fun book step!).

I’m not sure how often the general playerbase uses leves outside of leveling their crafters. Mine tend to sit at 100 for months and months, and I don’t see a lot of people out in the overworld doing battle leves on my server, but maybe its different elsewhere. I just think increasing the refresh rate would be better than increasing the allowance pool.

Leves are the big bang here. And once you boost through 10 (L) you're out. For DoW/M, you have bursts of exp via roulette, PotD, MSQ and just running a dungeon. Once you turn in your dailies including the challenge log, you're stuck. Players on the majority can't just buy 5k crystals to spam quick synth or spend several hours farming them endlessly. This is about respect for player's time as well.

For DoW/M, nothing is really stopping you from anything. MSQ says I need to be level 54 and I'm 53, less than 30 minutes later- I can progress and the exp comes flooding in. And that's about the only restriction you're faced with. Crafting/Gathering, you're locked out of skills (some cross class essential for HQ) and getting materials in the case of DoL.

What I'm asking for would ease that tedium and allow players to keep on truckin' and get to where they need to be on all sides- even if they chose for some reason to level a combat job with leves. I don't know why they're limited outside keeping the player thirsty for more, but I think it's reasonable for an increase to match with the level cap.

Regardless of server limitations, even housing item limit got bumped up. Come expansion, I would like this to have the same treatment for better QoL and again- player time into consideration.

You'd be correct if you're talking about 1-50, arguably even 10-50, since the first 10 levels are really easy to get through with vendor bought mats + the amount of shards you get from the initial class quests.
Lvl 50+ introduces the collectable system, letting you turn in crafted/gathered collectables for a good amount of exp (and scrips, at higher level). While it's obviously not as fast as leves, it definitely is faster than just quicksynthing a bunch of items.

Not entirely sure what you mean with the (L) quests. Are you talking about the large-scale leves that cost 10 leve allowances? Because I don't think they're all that exp efficient, compared to doing the right normal leves (either single or triple turn in ones, depending on which gives a higher total exp in a level range).

I'm also not sure how your comment on being "locked out of abilities" applies to the issue of the level cap being raised, since the majority of the cross-class abilities are from the lvl 1-50 range.

And once you use up all 100, you have to wait a bit over 16 days to replenish that full 100, because you only get 6 leves per day. Increasing the pool isn't going to help anyone actually using them, it just means you save up more when you ignore them.

As Nezerius said, those large leves aren't really worth it unless you're in a rush, don't have time and don't plan on using leves for a couple days (per large leve used). They only give about 6 leves worth of xp so you're missing out on a decent chunk of xp by using them.

I admit I am weird. I LIKE crafting and gathering. I honestly hardly ever use leves save at the beginning of an expansion.

Stormblood: harvested tons of wheat, with manuals and cheap food, rapid synthed it into flour, sold the flour. I forget what I did for miner. When I hit Kugane I used some crafting leves there but never bottomed out.

I will do collectables for books, mostly I use my squadron and custom deliveries for red scrips.

The problem with this approach is I am always behind the rush in the MSQ. By the time I got to Kugane some had L70 crafters by burning through the MSQ and levequests.

There are many ways to do anything. The reason for the leve regen rate is to force us into using other ways to level. Everything in the game has to have opportunity costs.
