[Feature Idea] Retainer Discounts and Partial Purchasing

Hello Everyone,

I had an idea on how to make retainers more meaningful with the market board as well as clean up some of the market board “bloat”.

Retainer Discounts
First off, the retainers. Wouldn’t it be cool if the seller could offer a percent discount if the buyer purchases your goods from your retainer directly? This would give the retainers that are stationed in plots a bit more meaning and hopefully adds a little activity to wards (They are so empty in my opinion). So, let’s say if I was selling rosewood for 100 gil. I would be able to offer a 20% discount to the buyer (80 gil) if they came to my retainer on my plot to purchase the goods. As the buyer, if you searched for the rosewood log item, an icon and percentage would be displayed by the retainer’s name if a discount was available. Clicking on the icon would then tell you which ward and plot the retainer is currently stationed at. Most players probably won’t go to the effort take the discount as they don’t mind paying for convivence, but those who do stop over my plot can also enjoy a drink at my bar :cool:. Also, a “favorite’s” list of plots could be implemented if you happened to pick up a regular buyer or two.

Partial Purchasing
Secondly, I think it would be beneficial to the market if it allowed the ability to partially buy and item. Normally when I am looking up basic materials, I will sometimes see that the first 10 entries of an item are being sold by 1 retainer (and not even at full stack, I think this is done to make the price artificially appear lower in the total column). So, my suggestion is to incorporate a system that will allow you to partially buy an item. So if I was selling 990 rosewood logs, instead of having 10 stacks of 99, It would appear as 1 stack of 990 and the buyer will have the option to purchase only the amount they need.

Yea, I just read the rest of the response and I can see where everyone is coming from.

I generally don't concern myself with the tax on items under 100k as it is aside from taking them into account when deciding which one is actually cheapest. It's just not worth the extra time to teleport all over to save a few gil when I could be crafting or flipping and making far more. You'd have to offer a pretty steep discount for it to be worth my time to go personally visit your retainer in some far flung corner of a random housing ward.
