Please allow us to buy 'X' Quantity of an item on Market Board

Can we please have an option to buy a specified quantity of an item from the market board?
Folks tend to plaster 99 of an item up when most buyers only need 1 or 2. This means no one will buy the items due to the cost... and therefore no one actually sells it either. A lot of sellers try to save their selling space or are lazy and bundle huge amounts of items, but buyers lose out because they don't need or cant afford the cost of a huge bunch of items when they only need 1 or 2.
If we could have the option to buy set amounts from a seller, it would actually spur sales and keep things competitive..

Please no, if i'm selling a stack of items that's exactly what i'm selling. I do a lot of crafting and if i'm too lazy to go back out and gather a cpl things that i need i will def buy a stack if it's a material that i store, at the end of the day i still make profit on it. We don't sell stacks of things because we are lazy, we do it because they will sell. And you are right, most people don't need a stack of materials but also most sellers will sell a stack along side smaller bunches of the same matt to cover both bases.

No. The game mechanics should not interfere with a market board sale. This change would be horrible for sellers

If sellers do that choice, they don't want to only sell one or two.

While I get the sentiment it's not a great idea. As a crafter I need widely varying quantities of items, but they generally fall more on the "I need a TON of this" side. It's convenient for me to just buy a stack that most matches the amount of what I need at the time.

This is something you can take advantage of yourself if you have things to sell. Sell in smaller quantities and watch your stuff move faster. Fill in that gap in demand for small amounts.

So, you'd rather not sell at all? Or wait weeks to sell that one stack? Because I know I will out right refuse to buy a stack of something when I only need 1 or 2 items.

You don't have to wait weeks to sell anything. I could log in right now put up a stack of torreya/black willow logs, granite, hingan flax, or nightsteel ore just to name a few and go to bed. Most of them would be gone by the time i logged back in. There are some items you sell stacks of and some you can't, if a crafter doesn't look at the history or know the recipies that they are used for then that's their own fault if they are selling too much of the wrong item.

Sell stack of items cheap or split it into smaller places and sell higher because people will still buy it if they need only few units. I kinda like that part of MB tbh.
Balancing between price, sale speed and retainer items cap makes it fun.

This would only further lower prices and ruin economies.
If you want 6 items and not 99 items, you may be paying 6000 gil at 1000/piece when people sell it individually, instead of 49500 gil at 500/piece.
The people who need bulk get a discount and those that don't pay respectable prices for individual amounts.

Supply and demand at work here.

1.0 had the buer able to buy quantities at their own choices but that only worked because there wasn't a server wide market board. Heck there wasn't even a market board at all for some time, you had to indivudally run up to retainers and see what they were selling. You can see what a difference market listings make.

The current system highly favors the sellers.
The OP proposes a change that would highly favor the buyers.

Couldn't there be some sort of middle-ground, maybe? Maybe a flag the seller could set to allow partial stack purchase?

That way, if I am a seller and I am selling bulk, I could list, say, 2 stacks of 99 Iron Ore for 50/each and then list 1 stack of 99 Iron Ore with the Partial Flag set for 80 each.

You, as the buyer could buy the 50/each, but would have to buy the whole stack. OR, you can buy as much as you want, but pay 80 each. You'd have a choice.
