Personally I would love to play an Au'ra or a Miqo'te, but I simply can't. Why?
The clipping. By the twelve, the clipping.
I thought it was really cool how some armor, like the level 60 PLD artifact, included a little opening for the tails, but it seems that this has completely fallen out of fashion. None of the sets seem to take tails into account any more, which causes them to clip into everything. Heck, even the racial armor for the (female) Miqo'te itself has issues like that.
So would it be possible to get another button in the character menu (like the display/hide weapon/helm ones) that lets you hide tails?

Granted, but I'd argue that clipping is not. So between (A) reworking 99% of the armor sets to include tail slots or (B) adding a "hide tails" button, I'd say the latter is the far more economical solution.
What do you think?

Waste of development time and effort. Everything clips in this game, with that logic - hide character/ clothes- would be a better option. I get that it's annoying to see, but it's honestly not that big of a deal. If they fix anything with clipping I want them to fix HAIR. THAT is far more noticable then the tails. And I only play miqo or au ra.

If you're bothered by the tails clipping and not the hairstyles or anything else.....then you're playing the wrong game. You can't possibly ask for a hide option for the tails clipping through gear...and then not be bothered by your hands, arms, hair, capes, etc. clipping through everything else.
Step 1: Play a race that doesn't have a tail.
Step 2: Profit. -

That said, why treat this as a zero sum game? Not being able to take the hairstyle you want because of clipping is annoying as well, so that's simply another thing that should be addressed
Which is what I'm doing. The problem is that Au'ra and Miqo'te are my favorite races in regards to facial options and animations, but I can't use them because the clipping drives me insane.Quote:

There's already gear that hides it so it wouldn't be hard for them to do. I would rather they actually put effort into making gear look good with a tail but that would be a lot of work so they'll never do it.

There's no apostrophe in Au Ra.
Also, no thanks! Tails are part of their identity. They require them to walk. It would be very strange to not have them.
