Hello everyone, so the new Liveletter came out earlier and it is with heart and pride that we can announce that SE is finally looking into DRK! High five all, well done well done.
Now, the pressing matter at hand. As they said, they do not simply want to adjust the recast timers for skills (ahem Shadow Wall) and I believe this is the perfect opportunity to reintroduce a suggestion that was made a little while back- a suggestion by Crater; bring back DRK's Reprisal from Heavensward/3.xx.
What was so special about Heavensward's 'version' of Reprisal? Isn't it the same?
Reprisal from HW was part of DRK's core mitigation suite; the skill was an oGCD of 210 potency, lowered targets damage dealt by 10% for 20 seconds, and had a 30-second recast timer.
However, it was only usable right after a successful parry; which had a nice synergy with the skill Dark Dance (now known as the role action Anticipation). More on this later.
Why bring back 3.xx Reprisal instead of <other suggestion/idea>?
Re-adding 3.0 Reprisal would fix many issues at once. First and foremost, it would give DRKs a fluff mitigation skill, which is something that we've all been clamoring for. It would give Dark Knights a unique way to shield the party; via a debuff instead of a shield. It would also give them a little extra to their DPS, and finally, it would bring synergy with one of the Cross-role skills; Anticipation. Every tank has some kind of perfect synergy with cross-role except DRK. (PLD Convalescense, WAR Awareness.)
That sounds nice, but you're forgetting why Reprisal was removed. It was too OP.
No. Reprisal, stacked with Storm's Path (-10% damage dealt), stacked with Delirium (-10% INT), was OP. It was like a Tank LB1 with 66% uptime. A -10% damage dealt debuff that's up 2/3rd of the time will not break the game.
Okay... but another thing. DRK would be forced to MT again, if you want to optimize.
Even this has been given some thought! Instead of only proccing off parrying, Reprisal will proc off of The Blackest Night in addition to parrying. It's a DPS gain, Dark Knight can off-tank without worry, and it fits right into the lore of TBN.
But wait. If this would go through, what will happen to *my* Cross-role Reprisal?
I hear you WAR/PLDs, and there's 2 options. Change the current "Reprisal" (name doesn't make sense by the way, you're not counterattacking anything) to a different animation and name. Or, if nobody would have any issues with it, it could be taken from the CR system in favor of something else- what I don't know, I'll let you be the judge of that.
So, suggestion conclusion; Reintroduce Reprisal from HW (preferably with the 3.xx sound and visual effects), including the 210 potency, but instead of only proccing off Parry, it also procs off The Blackest Night. Thanks for your time.
(P.S: HP drain on Souleater out of Grit would be a great boon too. Just throwing it out there.)

Good stuff indeed. Bring back the potency too. If they're going to lower Shield Swipe, they could raise our pot to make us the REAL counter attackers. I also like that it's not just another combo ender

I've always been in favour of this. Remove it as a role action and restore our original as a DRK exclusive skill. And while we're at it do the same for low blow; PLD's never need it, and I've never seen a WAR use it.

Anyways, would be interesting, but not necessary at all. If I got to choose, I would much rather get our old Reprisal instead of Low Blow.
