Patch 4.2 Extra Retainer should be free

At first I was excited to hear that we would be getting an extra retainer. However, I did note that there was no mention of if that retainer would be free. Now, I find it's what I suspected, we will be able to hire a ninth retainer.

I'm sorry, but this really isn't good enough. This is the only subscription game I can think of where I've had to hire storage space. I've played FTP games and had more free storage than I could use.

If people having up to seven paid retainers won't over-stress the servers, I cannot see any reason for not giving all of us another retainer for free.

Unless alot of people stop using this service, I dont think anything will change. SE has been profiting of the retainer service for years now, I dont think they will stop doing them or give us a free retainer. I mean, they knew more inventory space was requested by alot of players since the end of ARR and in HW they could have given us free retainers, but they didnt do that. The reason is simple, why give something for free, if others are willing to pay for it.

Personaly, I am just glad they did not lock the ability to dye glamour behind a Mog Station purchase.

As jaded as I seem to be atm I see... Yeah, just be glad SE isn't removing retainer features, or charging more for them in this patch, LOL

It would be really nice to have at least one additional free retainer PER expansion. That would make 3 or 4 free retainers in total.

Laerune and Polyhedral - I do get where you guys are coming from but come on! One thing I admire about this company is that they do listen to their customers. Complaints get results (housing has proved this).

If we just sit back and accept this, or even worse offer up gratitude that we aren't being treated even more badly, things absolutely will not change. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

We can complain all we want, they're not gonna change a system that earns them money.

I should not have been suprised that the next retainer would be a paid one too...and yet I still had hope that we would finally get a free one again..is one free retainer per expansion really too much to ask for? Especially with such a huge amount of glamour per expansions..

Well, to be fair, what exactly are you doing with your retainers. If you use them to hold glamour items, then the 200 slots in the dresser will be more than an extra retainer could hold (175 slots). For other stuff, you get an additional 70 slots attached to your chocobo. I guess if you need to do a lot of venture farming or need a lot of market board sell slots, then you may have a point, but just because it's not a free retainer, doesn't mean we're not getting more free storage.

It's sad free to play games sell permanent unlock of storage space. In this game you have to pay monthly for it and lose the space if you stop paying.

Right? At least make it a one-time buy. :/ I had to buy 2 additional retainers because I was lacking space, playing since the very begining of this game. A free retainer would be a cool move, SE. Unless, of course, your servers can't handle it.
