One idea I've see thrown around in the past is to make Fey Union's behavior change with the fairy. This idea is usually accompanied by a rework to Selene to change the fairy decision from healing/support to ST/AoE. So Selene gets current Fey Union along with a rework to have abilities more centered around single target healing/buffs, while Eos get the new AoE version. ...though no one seems to think to specify if their idea of the AoE should center on Eos or the target.
I tend to think even more strong AoE healing is the absolute last thing the game needs right now.
It should switch depending on what fairy you have.
Eos should get ST
Selene should be an AOE one.
Should be buffed to the levels it reached when each tick was a crit when you melded at least one DH materia >.>
In seriousness though, it'd be nice if it changed so that you can buff it with Rouse.
Nope. Fey union doesn't need an AOE that's generally exactly what whispering dawn is (An AOE regen) where Fey Union is a more potent single target regen.
If anything what needs changing its how the aetherpact guage works in general. everything a fairy does should build or use the guage in some way. so if every embrace adds like 5 points to the guage for example maybe 10 if it crits. combined with the existing use of aetherflow charges to build the guage as well would allow the guage to be built faster.
then things like whispering dawn or fey wind should deplete the guage when used. fey wind for example could be a 5% speed buff but consumes 10 points per tick. or whispering dawn could do the same. regen effect at 10 points per tick.
other abilities like fey caress or covenant could simply have static costs. like 20 points everytime you use fey caress to cleanse buffs. this could allow it to have a much lower cooldown and make it more useful without needing esuna.
this would also allow a deeper gameplay as well. scholars could micro manage more and turn off buffs when not needed. like turn off fey wind at the end of a dps check to conserve aethercharge for something else later. kind of like how you can turn off fey union when damage is lower to conserve aether guage.
also allow it to be more functional at lower levels as well where the aetherflow charges are a bit more useless. outside of a small dps boost. never needed for mp or anything such.
