I was wondering if I would to buy a story jump potion for an Alt, would I receive all the outfits, mounts, minions, etc. from MSQ or do I miss out on it? Is there any flaw in doing so that I might want to reconsider?

You insta-unlock the minions and the mounts. You don't get the outfits but as the potion unlocked the story-related achievements, you can buy them from the Calamity Salvager
The only flaw is that without the job level boost on the side, you'd be a level 1 with no main story content to do, meaning you'd be grinding to 60.
With the story jump potion you will get all the MS quests done, all the Teleport and Flying points (including riding skill and flying skills) and all the Dungeons/Trials (including Hard modes and side ones) unlocked.
I just checked on my Alt (used a skip book on him yesterday) - I didn't get any achievement points but I can buy from Calamity Vendor Scion Outfit, Alpine Coat, the Shield and a couple of other quest items, not too many though. I can make a screenshot of it, if you want.
I used the book after reaching lvl 43 on a character with the Road to 60 buff. Took about 2 evenings to get there and my MSQ was still on lvl 29 even that I did MSQ and dungeons only. So felt kinda pointless to get stack on a low level quests.
If you don't have the Road buff, I'd rather suggest to level to 50 while doing MSQ and only then to use the skip, otherwise you will have to endlessly grind dungeons.
