Is there really a need to reload all the characters on screen after every purchase?
It slows down the purchasing process for no good reason in my opinion and just makes the implementation looks sluggish.

I think you mean, is there any reason to unload them in the first place right ?
It's pretty bizarre, but work in progress I assume, so I guess they will make it faster with time.
I just assumed it's some kind of thing the game has to do in order to allow the purchases from the menu, since the original release of the game probably wasn't designed to perform this sort of function.
most likely version 1.0 of the client can't handle this kind of stuff so it does all the reloading read on JP side for people on I think was Mysidia server?? forgot which server.. but they buy from market search and it crashes their clients
For now only way to let this one go is to think that the time it loads to buy, unload everything, reload everything is the time it takes for the market shop staff running to the retainer with the goods you want and running his/her butt back to you... w
Ya, I think it's a limitation of the system, I guess as we get more market features we will see if this is something that is fixed in 1.0 or if this is something we have to wait for 2.0...
Ether way I'm happy to be able to buy from the menu, I'm just looking forward to when the markets are finished.
Remember they said that implementing this feature was causing a server crash when you bought stuff due to the way the server is structured? This is probably the jury-rigged workaround they had to do in order to add the feature
yeah, it's a bit wierd that it has to do that just to deliver an item. I'm guessing legacy code from the previous team is that horrible.
I just bought from the search window for the first time today. Holy crap that is a weird thing to have happen when buying from the search window. I can only imagine this was a result of the frequently mentioned "server limitations".
It's "instancing" you for a second to access the wards to make the purchase, merely taking out the area transition. It has to load/unload because you technically crossed an area transition (or equivalent). In 2.0 this clearly won't remain.
