Promotion Rework Idea
As it currently stands, there's not much "machine" in Machinist. We set our turrets, Hypercharge them for Wildfires, and detonate them, but beyond that, they're just kinda there. I was thinking about what could be done for more turret interaction, and that led me back to the old skill, Promotion.
What if Promotion was reworked so that when promoted, it provides a party buff, but you lose the auto attacks of the turret. Perhaps the rook can provide a small Crit/DH buff, and the Bishop could provide a small defense buff? Would slowly drain our otherwise-unused MP for the duration, and upon depletion, default back to attack mode.
Would this work? Any better ideas? Let's talk Promotion.

If hypercharge is buffed, that would be impossible cause it would make machinist too strong.
But if hypercharge would stay as it is now, it would be something like brd.
And the idea isn't to make them look alike.

If it were up to me, I'd have Hypercharge cancel the Promotion effect (so as not to make it seem OP). And while BRD and MCH are different, they are still classified as the "support" jobs, so party support was largely what I had in mind with this. While the BRD's passive crit buff is a mainstay of all their songs, it would only be a Rook Promotion effect, and limited to the length/amount of MP. So similar, but not quite as similar. Still, I'm open to any better ideas.

Why not make promotion again drain MP for a little benefit like battle litany ? It was an interesting concept and I likes how some TP job used MP for something (even if that doesn't concern much jobs now...).
