Guess What? Some Of Us Are New Ya Know

So, yeah ... I'd like to point out to all those who have played this game for a long time .. that's cool. We get ya. But not all of us are new.

Case in point, my husband and I ran Castrum Meridanum. We needed it to clear the main story. Waited for quite a while to get a group.

Never had a chance to let people know it was out first time and they were off. When my husband did mention to slow down a bit, as he was healing and trying to keep up ... we were told the below by the Red Mage.

That's right, everyone. People know you are new, but who cares! Keep up, don't ask questions, or get kicked!

Is this serious? Do people really act like this still? They knew we were first timers, as there was the message, but just were flat out rude about it, threatening myself and my husband with kicks.

Thankfully the rest of the group was great. But really, get off your high horses people. C'mon.

You should have just vote kicked the Red Mage for being rude.

I'm still absolutely baffled by a lot of player's mentality of GOGOGO FASTERFASTERFASTER. I'm sorry you had to deal with this jerk.

True. If one of us was kicked, the other would have left.

We did do the next dungeon with Ultima at the end, and it went swimmingly. Heck, I even got 2 commendations (which is a rarity as a Bard for me).

I do understand doing the same thing over and over in grinding ways isn't always fun (unless you are insane like me I guess). But remember ... everyone had their first time in any dungeon. Let's all have fun and get prizes!

I suspected what this referred to even before reading the post - that is how often the subject of new people in Castrum Meridanium or Praetorium has come up.
The problems are well known to everyone. Good solutions are less obvious....

Threatening to kick is highly unusual though, and certainly not okay. Much more common is that people just run ahead leaving the poor newbies lost and confused somewhere - the dungeons are easy enough today that a full group is not needed to clear them.

It's a double edge sword....if people do it slow, no one would queue because how long it would take and make your queue near impossible to pop. Unfortunate? Sure. But it's really SEs fault, not the players. (Sidenote: He suggested you kick him. You could have done that)

Err... while issues with this particular instance are not uncommon, this degree of assholery from not-new-players ARE.

Most groups do indeed rush through this instance (even missing members, even if said missing members are healer or tank or both) - simply because this can take up to one hour or more if you stay behind waiting with the new people who most likely want to watch all cutscenes. There's daily bonus reward for the roulette assiciated with this instance, and said roulette only has two possible dungeons, so most people won't want to spend more time than what's necessary inside the instance.

That said, though, most groups will just let you stay behind and let you watch cutscenes at your own pace, will even give you instructions on how to keep up... if you ask for them. Otherwise you will most likely be ignored the entire instance.

It's a sad thing you ran into someone like that red mage - next time consider a kick and report, specially if there's extremely rude behavior and name calling.

And, I'm sorry, but there's not a whole lot to be done about DF parties rushing through this one - my only advice is to either queue up unsync with friends or to just put up with the rush.

I would have vote dismissed them even if the comment wasn't targeted at me.
