Random treasure chests scattered in the field

After picking up FFXII again, checking all nooks for hidden treasure bags, I really miss that in FFXIV. There are so many hidden corners and dead end alleys in the field, and no other reason to check them than vistas.

Wouldn't it be a nice incentive to explore the field, and prolong playtime, to scatter treasure chests or glimmers of loot randomly? Containing small amounts of gil or the like - just enough to make it worth searching - and maybe a small RNG chance of finding something extra valuable.

You know what I miss about XII's treasure chests? Abusing the hell out of the RNG to always get the best things every time on demand.

But I don't imagine it being something that works well in MMO environment.

The fields in FFXIV could use some life, something to do other then FATE and gathering. They feel empty, I hope SE is thinking about this.

I miss half the loot cos they've changed them loads Can't get that demonsbane in raithwells tomb or the awesome dagger in lhusu. Or early access to lot of the weapon and armour upgrades.

But bit more on topic i don't think it's work so well. Players already ignore most loot chests even the potd sacks because the rewards are always junk.

I always enjoyed how in ffxi you'd get treasure coffers for kills etc. some blue with temp items and some brown with unique loot to that particular zone. Be fun if they added something along the lines with chances to get Materia I-6 depending on Zone. That would bring life to environments to bring people in. Not just dng grinding... do old school enemy grind!

I'm afraid that, although you might not like it for not beign exactly that, treasure maps are in essence what you are describing

We had random treasure chests during battle leve runs. Sadly there are no lv61+ battle leves for whatever reason.
Grand Company battle leves would have been perfect for Gyn Abania. Why are we in a Grand Company if we don' get GC battle missions after lv 50?

yes please, more GC content and more GC items to spend company seals on, including gear of a higher level than 50.

To train a bunch of scrubs to do GC gruntwork until they hit level 50.
Then abandon them and forget about the whole thing.
