I do not have a "Main" I want to gear all jobs, change weekly gatings?

Ok this is for my sissy but hard to fit everything in a title:

Right now I am disliking BLM play, the job that used to be the job I played the most for DPS, even though I tried MCH before that and hated the tight windows. Even with that I still wanted the option to gear them well.


Now however, I cannot find an optimal rotation for BLM to use on a constant basis. I do not like the slow servers reading blizzard III too slowly when I cut it close, and in HW it refreshed endo when it did drop for a second during the animation. If you do that now, you are suck with a useless umbral/astral I. So when I try a more play it safe method, i am failure- 4 sec remaining on the dummy with i310 gear. My point is, I do not like the feel of BLM and right now all my weekly limits are sitting on my currency retainer because of the huge time gating, I do not know what job to spend them on.

I do not like the idea of a game advertising you can play all jobs on your character when this is simply not true because the large time gates prevent this.

This game has been repeating weekly gating since 2.0, isn't it time for something different that allows us to gear more then one job? Why should it be 7 weeks for a weapon? then 2 weeks for a body after that? 2 weeks for legs? healer, caster, Melee/ non drg/ DRG/ NIN, tank, RNG, and Caster, just legs and body alone, if you cap each week, it takes 24 weeks to get all the body/legs across each set. That is 6 months and for my understanding, long enough for it to get outdated? So if job demand changes and we need change, how can we with all this time gating? Why have it? It is hard for me to spend what little I get because of the gating. With the job changes and gutting (lolsmn) I do not know what I want to gear the best up in. I do not get enough gain per week that warrants the risk of spending something so limited.

On top of things the current system does not even allow you enough time to gear. For example if you wanted the deltascape body, you have to save for 4 weeks. The detlascape body got pretty much outclassed in 2 weeks from being able to overmeld 320 crafter gear. Why is this system in place and being counter productive of being able to play the job you want?

SE gates us so that the people who do nothing but play this game don't race ahead and skew things for people with less time on their hands. Also, restricting gear drops gives people a reason to keep coming back each week. It's not ideal, but the restrictions aren't arbitrary.

If you want to gear up multiple jobs then you can buy crafted 320 gear for every slot -assuming you have friends and/or gil- and do the EX primals to get 320 weapons and accessories. There's nothing stopping you from being raid ready on any 70 job unless you're low on funds and time, really.

You can gear all jobs with crafted gear or verity. There problem solved

If they didn't gate, then you would have the cutting-edge raiders complaining about there being no worthy content for them to do.

It really does not make sense to me how people are ok with this gating and complained when they did the same thing to exp gains for the same reason as "SE gates us so that the people who do nothing but play this game don't race ahead and skew things for people with less time on their hands."

If it is simply solved by the 320 gear, then how can you ague there is something to do? How does gating magically make it so there is something to do vs not? FFXI did not gate like this, well they had gating but it was done much differently. It lead you to do different things each day but nothing really stopped you from gearing different jobs like here. With the strict gating you are limited to 1 role and why is there 3 melee classes share same gear while a melee has its own set and another melee shares its right with range attackers? With the gating in place, these concepts make no sense.

It is one thing to do it as an experiment, have that excuse a few patch cycles, but do it repeatedly each expansion? FFXI did not keep recycle like this so why is it done here? This game is pretty much no different then it was then 2.0 or HW, same thing, just reskinned.

If anything I'd like the cap on the current top tier tomestone to be 900 instead of 450. 900 would be high enough to make a large amount of casual players feel like they aren't being restricted while keeping the ones that play a whole lot more from getting too far ahead. Other than that I'd say it would be nice if they did away with these slot specific tokens from raids and just had a universal token for each set of raids with the current quantity per slot remaining the same. It would simplify raid loot and at the same time free up some inventory space.

I was honestly hoping that they'd raise the weekly advanced tomestone limit to 900 but of course, they didn't do that. We have 15 DoW/DoM classes/jobs. I haven't done the math but if you want to gear up all 15 jobs... let's see... MNK SAM DRG share the same accessories, BRD NIN MCH share the same accessories also... BUT. Assuming that you have all 15 jobs at 70 with the weekly tome cap as is:

headpiece, gloves, boots at 495 each x3 = 1485
chest, pants at 825 each x2 = 1650
belt, earrings, necklace, bracers, ring at 375 each x5 = 1875
weapon = 1000 (+7 weeks to get that special tomestone)

All of which adds up to 6010 for one class/job. Let's say MNK. Add 4510 for DRG (minus 1500 since it shares accessories), another 4510 for SAM. (All the STR jobs)
Add 6010 for PLD. 4510 twice for WAR and DRK. (All the VIT jobs)
Add 6010 for BRD. 4510 twice again for MCH and NIN. (All the DEX jobs)
Add 6010 for WHM. 4510 twice for AST and SCH. (All the MND jobs)
Add 6010 for BLM. 4510 twice for SMN and RDM. (All the INT jobs)

After all that awful addition, the total number of tomes you need to have every single creation gear piece is 75,150. Now... because you can only have 450 tomes per week, you'll need 167 weeks to get this many tomes. Of which, that is approximately 41-42 months. I mean, are you friggin' kidding me? No matter how hard we try, we're not going to cap every single class. Not even close to it. If every major patch comes out about every 3.5 months, let's say 4 for the sake of all this math, that's 16 weeks per major patch. That's only 7200 tomes. And another 16 weeks later, a new advanced tome will be released with the next major patch.

Anyway, I probably did all this math for nothing but I wanted to point out that it would be okay if they doubled the weekly advanced tome cap to 900. It'll allow us to gear up more classes and it'll open up more things that people *want* to do. I understand gating but when it takes *this* much to gear up fully with all the classes, then there is no point in gating.

You can gear job 1 with savage Raids. You can gear job 2 with omega normal. You can gear job 3 with creation tomes. You can gear the rest with verity or crafted. So where are you gated?

This is under the assumption that they even raid. The problem with three of those suggestions is that those activities themselves have gates.

Why do you need Creation gear on every job? Is the meldable crafted gear somehow so terrible? There's only a 10 ilvl difference between the two (since the items to augment Creation gear aren't as readily available yet), a gap that can be made smaller with overmelds (or bridged, depending on the stat differences between the crafted and Creation gear)
