Letters to a MCH

flamethrower:
-lower recast timer AND increase duration--like, i dunno, the lead shot that was taken away?

grenado shot, ogcd
-bring it back. could combo with spread shot a la SAM aoe combos with fuga

turrets
-hypercharge is great for utility, just lower recast timer to 60s

1-2-3 combo
-increase heated potency by at least 50 additional points. job is painfully obviously underpowered by all DPS standards.

To align with the unbuffed Split, Slug, & Clean shots and keep the numbers neat the heated versions should be 200/250/300. Buffing our 123 combo also means we wouldn't need a buff to wildfire itself.

Flamethrower needs a buff, but is otherwise fine. It lines up with each wildfire and is one of the fastest ways to generate heat. But, if we're talking about heat, I'd love to take a note from PVP and have Hot Shot increase heat by 25. Two shots from HS gets you to 50 heat and it becomes a bit more interesting to keep the buff up... and it'd match Cooldown. Plus, I'd totally accept having a 10s downtime for repairs if I could get back to 50 heat faster.

One thing to keep in mind with grenado shot is if they replaced spread shot, grenado would have the fade mechanic which spread and flamethrower don't.

This would make the job so blatantly op that I'm not sure if this is a troll thread or what.

I kinda understand what you mean, but please be more specific, there are several suggestions, he didn't say "take this all or nothing".

I am myself thinking about all those machinists possible upgrades and I would dislike to have someone just being like "it would be obviously op" and that's it. At least he has only 4 points (I have like 16 in the topic I'm writing, which is not to say "take it all").

And I believe the +50 potency for all the basic combo to be too much . I prefer adding mechanics to a machinist x)

I would actually like to see a decreased recast timer in a Heated state. Make being Heated more rewarding to stay in while buffing Overheated Wildfire in the process. We're drowning in TP anyway, even in AoE situations.

Oh, and either decrease or remove the GB lockout after Overheat. Having to climb back up to 50 Heat without Stabilizer is punishment enough, no need to double dip on it.

Good suggestions, just add some more:

- Give the turret a bigger role, like a deployment burst on the nearest target (for Rook) or a small radius aoe (for Bishop) and a constant dmg buff to whoever is in radius (like 2% damage up), this would be a way to compete with BRD crit buff and that way there's some involvement in turret placement rather just use it once and leave it there the entire fight.
- Rework Turret overdrive to boost the turrets damage and attack speed by 100% for a few seconds and disable its AA for the next 10-15s while leaving the constant dmg buff up to whoever is nearby.
- Hypercharge, raise party dmg static buff to 5%, lower the CD to 60 seconds while lowering the debuff time to 10s.
- Give Flamethrower a stacking burn DoT to justify using it for a longer time rather than just it a heat booster.

MCH needs a Lead Shot replacement and a DoT on FT would be one of the single best ways to balance the job right now.

The 3 shots account for more than 40% of MCH dps. If you also include wildfire, this is very close to 45%. Asking to buff each heated shot by 50 potency is similar to asking for a straight 10% buff to MCH dps or a little more than that. This alone would bring MCH very close to MNK without even considering the utility MCH brings (hypercharge, dismantle, refresh and tactitian mainly) and would make MCH mandatory in any raid progression group. BRD would be totally overshadowed. On top of that, he's also asking to halve the CD for hypercharge, meaning more personal dps (higher turret's damage, higher wildfires and so on) and a vulnerability up debuff on the boss for 50% of the time, likely more since we usually have downtime phases. Yeah, these changes would make MCH totally broken. Damn, even only increasing the heated shot's potency by the suggested amount would make it terribly unbalanced.

Also, I have another issue with the buffed shots: it would make overheating by mistake even more punishing than it already is.
I agree that MCH should be buffed, I even started a thread a few days ago with some suggestions, but this is going overboard.

Of course I'm assuming that the suggestion for FT and grenado shot are more qol changes since you don't use them to do single target dps anyway.
