PvP Exp: Nerf and thoughts

As everyone knows, patch 4.01 brought with it some substantial nerfs to PvP EXP. How hard did it get hit, exactly?
Well, to get the OLD values of exp (for this example, roughly 600k at level 60) you now need to get FIRST PLACE.
1st place: 600k (old values)
2nd place: 400k (2/3 of old values)
3rd place: 400k (2/3 of old values)
What does this mean?
It means PvP is not longer an efficient method of farming EXP unless you have a full premade of players that can carry your team to a win every single game. Not only that, but 2nd place is rewarded the same as 3rd place. That means there is NO incentive for 2nd place in terms of EXP. Also, the average player will win 33.33% of games while losing 66.66% of games. Does that seem fun? Not to me.
Does this stop the AFKers?
No. If anything, it will make it worse since the ratio of active participants is almost certainly going to decrease. Botters don't care about the speed of leveling, they just care that they don't have to actively do it.
My suggestions:
Winning should have received further incentives instead of just gutting the rewards. Do you know how you get people to stop participating in a game mode? By making them have to work harder just to be rewarded with the same as they did the day before, but for less work. An example of what would actually make sense:
1st place: 900k EXP
2nd place 700k EXP
3rd place: 600k EXP
"But that won't stop the AFKers!"
Yeah, and nothing will unless the make the EXP literally 0.
