Even Xeno thinks WAR needs some love.

I'm on his twitch stream and they are taking double PLD for Susano. Now I'm not saying that just because Xeno is the WAR go to guy that it needs some fixing, but he is very knowledgeable of the job and he can see how clunky the job has gotten and I totally agree with him. SE you need to do something about WAR because now even Xeno has switched to PLD in the mean time.

yeah they started to roll dual PLD already, this is probably what SE wants though because they somehow managed to ruin WAR and DRK that were working just fine, all they need is to buff PLD not mess up DRK and WAR along with it

I'm not saying the changes were good, but if you think "WAR was working just fine" then where have you been for the past two years?

war was the best tank in the game in heavensward, id say that is working just fine.

ignoring how it played in ARR, especially in first coil, as thats very old news at this point

That's my point, it was overtuned and had no weaknesses. Even if PLD and DRK worked just fine, WARs design made if far too powerful. It had the highest damage, self heal sustainability, great utility, and enough mitigation to get through any fight in the game as a MT, and at least one of those things needed to be toned back.

as someone who mained both pld and war in ARR and Heavensward, i was happy with the way war was in HW.it was the perfect tank to me.


that didnt stop me from playing paladin, but i did want more. and instead of nerfing war, i wanted pld to be brought up. War was a perfect balance of everything. it didnt need changes like it got, PLD just needed to be better. now PLD is better but they messed up war.


ill continue to main both, but its a shame that im actually enjoying drk (a tank that i hated in HW) more than war now, all because they felt the need to ruin what made the class great

I really hate how SE does balance.
If something was weak before, they'll make it absurdly strong, if it was too strong, they'll cripple it. Sigh.

if anything, i would have prefered potency nerfs instead of outright changing how the class plays.

even at lvl 60, war is completely different from lvl 60 heavensward war. which is just a bit frusterating when its doing the same thing just...more awkward

they were really good but not overpowered, not good enough to the point where most raid group were rolling double WAR, DRK was better main tank than WAR in 3.x
