Please designate an official RP server.

This thread is for those of us who are in the RP community who naturally flocked to high population servers after finding out where the RP was. I understand not everyone thinks we should have one, or highly doubt we will ever get one. I am also 100% aware that Yoshi-P has expressed surprise that people RP at all, seeing as it's not very common in Japanese culture. But as stated here, "We plan to continue introducing new incentives and updates following the release of 4.0, including bonuses to accommodate the transfer of entire free companies and free company housing". I believe implementing an NA RP server will help to alleviate the weight of many congested servers, like Balmung and even Gilgamesh.

As it stands, many RPers on Balmung will not be utilizing the server transfer incentives simply because many of us consider RPing to be a major draw to the game, and do not have the confidence that they will be able to find such a rich variety of RP on other worlds that can be found on current high-population servers. Personally, I regard in-game content just as important to me as RPing. Ongoing roleplays with other players on Balmung was what kept my subscription going from the end of 3.0 content all the way to Stormblood, and this sentiment rings true for many other players who consider RP to be one of the biggest draws to FFXIV.

Conclusion: If RP players had a server that is officially designated as an RP server, players on Balmung and other congested servers (and new players who like RP!) would feel more confident about transferring off of congested servers, further alleviating queue times, bottlenecking, and other issues pertaining to server congestion.

Yep, I'm on Balmung and don't mind the RPers but I think it would be best for everyone if a new server was created and designated as an RP server, with free transfers there. You are absolutely right that RP is what's preventing Balmung etc from taking part in the transfers. And then you have FCs like mine whose home is on Balmung and can't take advantage either, and you end up with no one able to move.

This was a question at the E3 live letter and the answer given sounded like they said no or least not at this time.

Yeah, pretty much Yoshi-p didn't like the idea because he's not a huge fan of dividing the community.

I understand that as well, but with a lot of pushing and awareness to the issue, we were eventually given RP tags which has already done wonders to help us find RP within our servers.

Now, it's time to push for that incentive to get us the hell off of Balmung :p

Edit to address this: As it stands, people who actively want to be on a high population server regardless of queue times (a small population) and people who RP (a massive population) are stubbornly clinging to Balmung. Many RPers including myself wouldn't think twice about leaving Balmung if it meant we could just be around our RPing peers. At some point, the devs will have to realize Balmung's arguably largest population isn't going to let go until we're sure that we'll be able to find RP elsewhere.

After all, a lot of us dropped 18 bucks to transfer there specifically for RP.

Nobody needs an RP server to RP. people should RP where they please.

Multiple times the playerbase has attempted to trigger a mass exodus from Balmung by designating one of the low population worlds as the 'Unofficial RP server'. This has happened with Mateus, Siren, and if I'm not mistaken, Coeurl. And I'm also not saying that people can't RP in non-designated RP worlds... just that there should be a server where new players and old players alike can say "oh, that's where I can find RP", and go there instead of high-population worlds.

Why does anything have to officially happen? Balmung became the rp server by the players alone.

Band together and make a new server an rp server.

Multiple times. Multiple servers. Didn't work before, won't work again. See above post.

Well yeah why not, they don't need to open a new one, just name one of the actuals ones "RP" and allow free transfert from and to it
