Diamond rank is way too easy to get.

If most/all of Top 100 are Diamonds, what's the point of it? Isn't the whole point of ranks is to differentiate players by skill? Why the highest rank is so easy to achieve in Seasons 3 and 4?
There was only 1 Diamond on Elemental in Season 2. In season 3 there are 99! And on Mana Top100 started from 2188, with full Diamonds obviously.
Why not make scores more balanced, like something between S2 and S3, so there were 10 Diamonds tops, with 55-60% win rate needed to climb after Platinum. Right now, only 45% needed to reach Diamond so people faceroll through previous ranks.

I agree that the change to the points loss/gained for ranks is a little bit ridiculous. Back in Season 1, Gold was actually a decent rank that showed you were a pretty decent player, Platinum was that you were a great player, and Diamond meant you were amazing. Now, Gold is a meme rating you can achieve with a 35% wr, Platinum means you might be good or you just played a lot of games with a 40% winrate, so Diamond means you're pretty good.

This means that even if you are the highest possible rank, Diamond, since you still get matched against and with Gold players who are sub par, 35% win rate people, high level games are not as enjoyable since no matter how high you go you still can't avoid the baddies.


It seems to me that the only reason they made this drastic a change was to make new players feel validated by getting shiny ranks despite not doing that well, which is not how they should work rankings.

If they did rankings right, you'd need a 51+% winrate to climb and would fall at 49-%. There would be no minimum rank protection, no systematical disparity between rating gained and lost and no promotion matches - You're in if you got the rating, you're out if you lose it. And matchmaking would be done by searching for people of your rating +-50, not look across tiers.

That's what ranked would look like if they were serious about it. They aren't. Ranked is a joke played on people who miss the punchline in their fervent desire to take it serious.

I agree with everything, however the matchmaking being tier based is unavoidable with the size of our community. It already took ages to find games in Season 1 when matchmaking was +1 and -1 from your tier.

Diamond would be more easy to get if the range dps Q is not 20 to 30 mins waiting or sometimes more especially in Aether Data Center. Average range dps has to wait in Q is about 20 to 40 mins per night.

Don't know why people still take ranks seriously in this game where matchmaking essentially doesn't exist and you get a freedom pass pretty much all the way to plat because it's so hard to finish - with the w/l points unless you're truly awful. I mean I know what you mean, we're from the same DC and we know the same players at high plat/dia who when they queue it's roulette and you wonder how they got there. Grats on Diamond btw (you were Gold last I looked, which kinda validates your post I guess lol). If PvP was more popular, Diamond would be difficult to get, but it isn't. I mean you make a choice, do you want proper matchmaking with several hours to find one game, or farming 2-3 point games against silvers after the queue gives up and starts widening the range, or queues that we have now which are already long enough but go for +2/-2 so you can actually at least play a few games.

How about another rank after or in-between diamond?

Perhaps a Wolf Rank? Looks like the ground art on the rug in Lichenweed. 2,500 or 2,750 points to unlock?
